Do you do rituals, go trick or treating or perform ceremonies, do you follow old roots or do new things? What sort of things do you do on this night?

I hand out candy. And dress up.

Then I make dinner and make offerings to my ancestors. I smudge the house. And I preform a small ritual. :-D

Halloween was my favorite Holiday before I became a Christian, but sense then I hate it. We never celebrated Halloween with our children. We did go to All Saints celebrations with the Children at church. They're having an alternative at the Church I go to now but I didn't sign up as I have in the past. I have come to the conclusion that these alternatives look too much like Halloween. Our church has a big jackolantern out front right at this moment. A pumpkin...fine, but not a jackolantern. Some of the kids never get the fact that it's supposed to be an alternative and they come dressed as occultic characters. I really think all the churches need to open their doors on Halloween and have a sermon and some serious prayer on that Day. They could have a hay ride, give bags of candy at the door or something, maybe have a dinner afterward. But what we are doing now, looks too much like Halloween to me. I think the people have them as a safe way for their kids to celebrate Halloween instead of a way to avoid the occulticness of it. I like what worshipful heart said her church did.God bless!!!

Pagans may celebrate Samhain if they follow those festivals in the wheel of the year. Witches and wizards may or may not do the same depending on whether they are religious or not. Some irreligious wizards may trick or treat or do nothing special at all. In my religion October 31st is the end of autumn so we celebrate the end of season and the next day the beginning of winter.

For Halloween, I put on a costume and go to a party. Maybe hand out candy to kids, depending.

For Samhain, just a little ceremony - eat a small meal, set aside a portion for the gods, spirits, and ancestors. Contemplate the last year, say goodbye to anyone who has passed beyond... nothing terribly engrossing for folks outside the family.

This particular time holds no special significance for me, but I do know Pagans who perform rituals, ceremonies, and yes, even trick or treat. They are no different than anyone else.

Personally, I renew all protections on my home, turn off the lights so the trick-or-treaters don't bother me, and make a ritual to help me be in contact with my deceased loved ones, especially those who passed during this past year. This is a sacred time for me, a vigil for my departed family and friends, a goodbye to them and a beginning of a new year. I even make resolutions for the new year.

Satanist are associated with christian beliefs. Not pagan. On Halloween we celebrate the new year, the 1st frost, reverence for the dead.

My coven has their ritual ahead of time so we can be home
to give candy out to the children to show them that our belief is not based on lies generated by the christian church

I dress up, give out candy to kiddies, say "boo" a few times, and try to honor the God/dess. Pretty much normal stuff, really. I'm not big on rituals... just a plain old agnostic monotheistic witch.

Sing the deathwatch, remember those who've passed. Give out Candy, eat a feast, hug my family....

My November Eve celebration is not the most important rite by far, but it's up there in the top 5.

Take it from someone who knows, you re not talking to your ancestor s or loved ones, YOU ARE CONJURING DEMONS. They re coming into your home, life, mind, work, everything possible pretending to be something they re not. After longer than I would like to admit of hauntings in my life, I believe they hurt you, to hurt God and make a mockery of placing more burdens on both you and God! Believing in Jesus is the only thing that will keep you protected. I found the truth in the Bible. Jesus said the dead in Christ will rise first, this means the dead sleep. They cannot possibly talk to you from a different realm if they are sleeping. Ask Jesus into your heart today.

On Halloween I might go trick-or-treating and afterwards for Samhain I might do a ritual showing respect and remembering the dead. Halloween is the secular holiday celebrated on Oct. 31 and Samhain is the religious holiday observed on Oct. 31.
