Change it back to the older version, where each and every driver has the chance to be champion at the end of the season, by adding up their total point accumulation and declaring a champion.
I just hate this "race to the chase" crap, and it's boring......

Keep the chase, but make the following changes.

1. Give the driver who was in first place after the first 26 races a 25-50 point bonus at the start of the chase.

2. Rate the drivers upon where they finish in relationship to each other, not with the entire field.

Winner should get 75 points, 2nd 60, 3rd 50, 4th 45, 5th 40.
6th to 10th drop by 2 points each. ie 6th is 38 points and 10th is 30 points.
11th to 39th drop by 1 point each. ie 11th is 29 points and 29th gets 1 point.
40th to 43rd get 0 points.
This would hopefully keep the seriously damaged cars from coming back on the race track and causing so many debris cautions. And, the larger point spread at the top should increase competition for top 5s and wins.

Winner of the most races wins the championship!
In case of a tie move back to the number of second place finishes!
No point system needed!
2nd place is the first loser not the second winner!

I would go back to the original points system or do away with a championship all together.

i would make the points closer.60 for first 55 for second 50 for third 45 for fourth 43 for fifth..40 for sixth and only 1 point difference all the way down
also 2 points if you lead a lap and 5 for the most lead..and i would dump the chase

There would be no point system. The cars that place highest in the time trials would go to the front of the pack in their time slot order.

I wouldn't drop the point system, it's fine. But I would drop the
chase and the top 35 rule.
