I think people just answer questions to get the "top contributor" label. They don't care if the information they give is correct. That is really scary.

I have no idea if Renilde Stoppani and Alessandro Montessori were really her parents, but I know of no reason to not believe that they were.

On the other hand, Maria Montessori did have a son Mario. He was the product of a love affair that she had with another doctor. Since being an unwed mother in her day was considered unacceptable, she placed him with a family in the countryside of Rome. Mario grew up knowing Maria as the wonderful lady who would bring him sweets and take him for walks. When he was 15 years old he learned the truth about her identity.

Mario became his mother’s greatest proponent. He was the General Director of the International Montessori Association in Amsterdam and the author of the book “Education for Human Development: Understanding Montessori”. He worked for the movement until just weeks before he died at the age of 83 in an Amsterdam Hospital. He had one son, Maria’s grandson, Mario Montessori Jr.

Yes. Here is a quote from Annette Haines' video on Maria Montessori:

"Maria Montessori was born in 1870 in Italy. She spent most of her life in Rome. Her father, Alejandro, was an accountant in government services. He had a conservative and precise nature that led to success in his work. Her mother, Renilde, had had a good education for a woman of her time and was more open to the many transformations that affected daily life at the end of the 19th Century. It was also a time when violent terrorists, who called themselves anarchists, stopped the continent using assassination as a political tool. After a long struggle, Italy had managed to free itself from the Austrian Empire and the political dominance of the Papacy. The unification of Italy was completed just 3 months after Maria’s birth. "

Here is a biography of this lady (there are numerous websites about her). I can't answer if they were "really" her parents, without researching the documentation.
Since she seems to have died with her maiden name, I'd assume she never married or had children. It also seems that she was an only child... of course, that does not rule out cousins.
