well, you're moving there, not just buying a holiday cottage! so that works in your favour. i'd just be aware that you're starting off in a slightly negative position, so make an effort to become part of the community, support local shops (eg butchers, greengrocers) if applicable. make friends with the neighbours and integrate yourselves

Try learning some welsh as carmarthen is a welsh speaking town. And you will be more accepted for trying .

Also i live in Glanaman which is near Ammanford where 75% + speak welsh so Moving to carmarthen take into account that you are moving to "Y bro Gyrmaeg" The welsh speaking heartlands so speaking welsh will help you feel more welcome and accepted. ( If you go and don't make an effort then you will get trouble trust me . I am a welsh speaker and i would be quite annoyed if someone didn't make an effort which happens more than often
