Hi Guys,

I am just back from holiday abroad and have over 200 pictures stored in my camera. I want to transfer them to my PC and have done so many times before in the past. The camera is less than 6 months old and hasn't been dropped or anything, yet it won't do what it should! I can view the photos on the camera itself only without any problem. What is wrong?

I think there may be a fault with the USB cable that I use to connect the camera to the computer. When I plug it in, I get a message coming up saying 'device not recognised'. I have experienced this before, but it is usually resolved by waggling the cable around or rebooting. It isn't doing it this time and other than buying a new cable, I'm out of ideas.

If it helps: It is a Vivitar Vivicam 3105s 3.2 Megapixel camera.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions given.

Oh my! That doesn't sound good at all. Seems like your camera is mispelling words. I mean 'recognised?' Come on!!! Take it back to the shop and tell them to replace it with a camera that spells recognized the correct way! Hope this helps! ;-)

What I would suggest is that you buy a separate card reader, rather than connect your camera to the computer. They are very cheap and you can get ones which read a variety of cards, either at a camera store or on line. 'Waggling the cable around' can harm the contacts on either the socket on the camera or the USB socket on the computer. And using a card reader means you don't run your camera's batteries flat in uploading your pictures.

normally there's two ways to how to load photos onto the computer. one is to use the USB cable, the other is to insert your memory card into a laptop or a device that reads memory card.

what i suggest is:

1. install your device. normally a window will open to ask you to verify the device. see whether installing helps or not.

2. try using another computer to see whether the USB connection work

3. try reading the manual and see if this problem appears in the book.

4. does you camera comes with a CD-Rom? if so, you can try installing the programmes inside. the installation normally includes a more comprehensive manual that may help you to identify the solution.

4. if none of the above works, try visiting the website and ask for help.

hope it helps. :)

There's no problem with your digi cam or your usb cable...the problem is with your usb ports of your pc..

Try formatting your pc and if the problem still continues...you gotta change the usb ports...
