I own all three new systesm, i.e., the Wii, 360, and the PS3. After playing all three for several months now the PS3 has emerged as my favorite. I got the 360 first and now that I have the other two (even with Halo 3), I play the PS3 the most by far.
Graphics wise the 360 and PS3 are equal. The 360 has more games, but you just get so much more with the PS3 system. I love that it has a built in Blu-ray player, WI-FI internet, a 60 gig replaceable hard drive, and HDMI. I payed $399 for my 360 and didn't want to fork out another $180 for the microsoft Hi-Def DVD add on player and another $100 for 360 WI-FI. $180+$100+$399 = $679 plus tax. I got my 60 gig PS3 for $450 and it plays high def movies out of the box.
Also I love playing Resistance Fall of Man, Motorstorm, and Warhawk online, and I can play all three for free!
If you get a PS3 you have to check out these upcoming games:
Uncharted: Drakes Fortune
Unreal Tournament III
Little Big Planet
Haze
Rachet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
Killzone 2
The Eye of Judgment
All of the above Titles are PS3 exclusive. (Unreal Tournament is a Timed Exclusive, meaning it will be the first system with the game for several months)
Good luck!

ps3 is WORTH THE BUY!!!!
i'll list some of the reasons
- ps3 has a built-in blu-ray player
- ps3 has much more and better exclusives, most of them cant go to xbox 360 because it cant handle that many data(DVD- 8.5gb, blu-ray 50gb)
- online is free for ps3 not like 360
- ps3 will have over 300 games released by this spring
- when developers get used to the system, the graphics will be WAY better than 360. should take them a year to get used to it
- playstation home is coming out this spring, its a virtual community where you can hang out with friends and customize your own apartment which xbox doesnt have(FREE)
- ps3 is a true HD console. xbox 360 upscale games to 1080p and ps3 DISPLAY games up to 1080p
- built in Wi-Fi
- xbox 360: 33% hardware failure
ps3: .2% hardware failure(see the decimal? less than 1%!)
- rumble returns in spring 2008
- you can upgrade your harddrive without voiding warranties with any 2.5 HDD, which xbox cant because you have to buy a xbox HDD
(they actually have the step by step on how to upgrade it on playstation.com)
those are the ones that i know right off my mind but there are much more reason than this
Prices as of today:
ps3- 80gb: $599
60gb: $499
xbox 360(premium)- $399 (if you want the accessories that ps3 comes with, that would add up to over 700 dollars)

Depends on what you like about them. The PS3 will have many exclusive titles coming its way. There is free Wi-Fi. Graphics are cool. Gameplay is awesome! There really isn't a problem with any "overheating" problems unless you buy a 120V one and use it overseas. If you buy it, and keep it there, you will just be fine. In my opinion, I would recommend the PS3 because there are not problems and they made new updates to fix problems that actually works. The Xbox 360 has problems like the Red Ring of Death, which can actually kill your 360. Microsoft tried making new updates to fix problems, but they actually never worked. This is only my opinion, so think hard about it! Hope this helps!

seriously that guy at the top who said ps3 has alot of bugs seriously must of been high when he wrote that comment because im pretty sure ps3 has a 3 percent failure rate or less and that the xbox 360 has a 33percent failure rate so if i was you i would get the ps3 and not listen to anyone on here who says xbox 360 because they must just be fanboys because who wants to buy a machine that is going to break in less than 6 months seriously.

Xbox 360 - it's waaaay better value for money and just generally a better console. I'm not even a fan of the Xbox systems and would have said PS3 straight away before but they've just made a mess out of the PS3, which is a shame because I love my playstations. Of course, if you're a Final Fantasy fan, you may want to buy a PS3 anyway for Final Fantasy XIII when it comes out. :)

i would recommend the x360, not only is it cheaper but the graphics are brilliant.
I am a 27 yr old girl and i loved kameo as the water scenes were out of this world, and the light reflects are spot on. I brought gears of war for my partner at christmas gone as there was loads of hype about this game and yes it is outstanding!!. The game play is smooth and everything is truly excellent from the cut scenes to graphics.
the second brillianly produced game is lost world as you jump in and out of different machines, walking on snow that leaves footprints behind and the noise of walking in snow. Again graphics are hot, game are about £10 cheaper as well.
I can only comment on the x360 as that is what we have but put it this way we have a N64, seag megadrive, wii, ps2, we both own a pc each and play world of warcraft, we have been hard gamers for 15-20 years and both recommend the x360, but saying this we will be buying the ps3 for christmas as my partner loves gadgets and has to have one.
When we do buy the ps3 post this same question and i think i will say the same the x360 is better also because the online games are great.
the best thing to do is find a store that has both consoles operational and tell both ask random people in game or gamestation, customers as well as staff, look for the ones who are purchasing ps3 games and x360 and ask there personal opionion. The only way you will really know which is best to buy is to play them to feel with is better you as the controllers are different ps2 is smaller, you really need to feel and see for yourself i can only say which i perfer but is always comes down to the indivual gamer, good luck though.

depends. ps3 has a better image quality and has bluray for higher definiton of movies. the controller is more eeasy to use than the 360. on the other hand 360 has better games better online games a market place and chatrooms online. i personally would buy the 360 over the ps3 becoz i prefer better gameplay quality than image quality and besides xbox 360 is way more cheaper than a ps3.
