Railways is a commercial organisation. They have to collect revenue for running their operations . For this , they take money from passengers and render them tickets , which is just an authority to travel.

So that the railways recover the cost of their services through the ticket. The cost of the trains, fuel, salaries, maintenance and building new railway lines etc. is to be recovered from customers, isn't it?
