Depends on the regulations in your state as to whether or not you can use Buckshot. But most states allow the use of slugs. If you are purchasing for a true 'smoothbore' then I would recommend Brenneke or a like type Sabot shot shell.
If you are a reloader I Highly recommend the Lee Slug which you can cast from pure lead. It loads in a standard Shot Sleeve and the hull takes a standard fold (5 or 8) crimp. Since the slug sets in a cushioned shot sleeve you don't need to worry about Pressure on the wad as when using fiber wads as with regular type slugs.

The majority of states require you use rifled slugs in place of #00 Buckshot. Pretty much any factory slug will work fine, but you need to test a few and see what works best out of your particular Shotgun. Brenneke Slugs are good as are Foster type slugs mentioned earlier. Slugs will allow you to make good shots at 100 yards or less, and #00 Buckshot has a lot less effective range as it disperses into a wide pattern fairly quickly. You will need to check your state game laws to find out what is legal for you to use in your state of residence or where you intend to hunt. Good Luck if you get to go...It's an experience you won't forget.......

Depends on where you are hunting and whats legal. 000 buck if its legal and you keep your shots close. Most hunting with shotguns is done with slugs and a foster type slug from any of the big manufactuers will do you well, though you will what to see what groups the best.

Buy the Remington Slugger Brand for your smooth bore shotgun.** Manufactures recommend you only shoot rifled slugs from cylinder or improved cylinder shotgun chokes.**
