I want to send my CV's off to employment agencies and have downloaded Open Office which is meant to be compatible. When I tried a dummy run to my email address it wouldnt work. I saved my CV as Microsoft word 97/2007/XP format! Is it because I am sending it to my machine - if someone has successfully done this on a Vista with Microsoft Works using Open Office can they explain how to do it! I will give 10 points and would be really grateful. Thanks.

As long as Open Office was able to open the Works file, and you saved it as a M$-Word file, the only issue is: Can others read it.

Email your CV to a friend or family member (they need Word or Open Office) and see if they can read the file. If they can, you can send it to anyone.

Works can't read Word files and Word can't read Works files!! Never have, never will - not bad for two pieces of software made by the same company huh??

You can save it in RTF I think (from memory) Works does read that.

Hope that helps!!!
