All of the previous answers are wrong.

From your question I take it that you are in Australia with the uhf cb service there.

If your not in OZ , then you don't have access to a uhf cb band.

But if you are --- a 6dB antenna will be a big improvement over a 4.5dB one.

Cb freq is not in the UHF band, just for your info.

I would go with the long whip antenna for the best gain. It is somewhere around 6' tall and they are usually mounted on the bumper.

Good luck with it. Fordman clear.

UHF is not in the 11 meter range of 26.965mhz-27.405mhz. A 9' whip antenna will give you best all around performance, but if you are in the thick, a shorter fiberglass antenna will suffice.

cb is am radio at 27 kHz and uhf is in the mHz range (can't remember exactly)
i agree with fordman but with one difference.
if you are going real bush, mount it a high as you can get it. this increases effective range and removes it as far as possible from interference sources at the front of the vehicle (such as alternators, relays etc)
one caveat though, remember its there as low trees and parking garages will either snap it off or you'll get pissed off parking attendants as you smash every light in the place.

db has nothing to do with type for your cb that has a certain range of freqs it transmits and recieves.

6 db gain sounds good but you might have to tune it to the radio ....due to standing waves. or you might hear nothing.
