I'm a foreigner and although not directly because I was foreign I have been racially abused whilst in the USA, I was simply a tourist. I have had people refuse to serve me in food outlets, I've been ignored by people when asking for directions, I've had people look at me as if I was the scum of the earth. I've heard Racist remarks although not at me but about people with the same colour skin as me. Why was I abused, it was because I was White.

America is the most racist country I have ever been to and there is as many blacks being racist as whites, although I only ever saw the blacks being racist I'm sure there is some white people doing it back.

lol, fishing for evidence that Americans are intolerant isn't that easy is it?

Just the fact that America accepts more legal immigrants than any other country in the world should give you a little hint on the fact that we are a very tolerant people. We have even tolerated the illegals for a very long time, even going so far as to grant several amnesties.

Now the problem is that our goodwill has been greatly abused and we are being attacked by people we didn't invite into the country in the first place. Of course we are angry about that, how would you feel about someone coming into your home, rummaging through your frig and insulting your family? You would be mad and call the police, you would expect that person to picked up and even thrown in jail wouldn't you?

To the British person - HeeHeeHee, what torture, forced to speak at a PTA meeting.

I've been in the U.S. for 20 years, since I was 9 years old. Most people can't tell that I'm not a naturally born American (I'm Russian), until I tell them my name. Living in NYC, the so-called Melting Pot, I've heard all kinds of racist trash, primarily from Italians (who think that they own the world in NYC). Conveniently, they forget that they are only a couple of generations away from being immigrants themselves. Don't get me wrong, not ALL Italians are like that, but a lot are. I love getting into a conversation with someone of Italian heritage, waiting until they say something derogatory about my nationality, and then letting them know who I am. The looks on their face are priceless.

I am American , I insult no one , I have a friend who is black ,and has a 70's afro , I have known him for over 20 years , I call him my brotha from another mutha ...I call him my big haired jungle bunny , and other names , we are friends , he calls me KKK (Kracker Klan King) He calls me honkey , and everything else , then when our other friend who is Columbian starts laughing we both look at him and say " shut the hell up wet back ...ha ha ha ha ..that is how we get along , it goes back to the old saying sticks and stones break my bones but WORDS will never hurt me .....Even on the job , people look like we have committed a crime when we get going on the names like Craker , Plantation King when they call me , or when I call them ***** ( notice I did not use the offensive "N" word ....) and wet back .....

you should really hear it when we discuss politics , when I write their checks on the line that says "for" I write in welfare assistance ,for my bro and Columbian Bank account deposit , or Cartel Funding on the Columbian ......by the way the Columbian is legal , of course I tell him he is not all the time , I told him he needs to be deported so I can take care of his wife ,and my kids ..ha ha ha .......

Are we wrong for being like that , under the new hate crimes law we could be arrested ...How can a law say it is wrong when the parties involved are not offended ...

America has issues that need attention , I agree , but because someone ignores you when you ask for directions is not a problem , I teach my children not to talk to strangers .....I do not discriminate , I will cuss anyone out so do not feel so bad about that ...

Once in San Jose because Calgary was playing them at the time ; ).

That's about it. I've travelled all states west of the Mississippi, the worst thing ever said to me was "dam liberal". Even when I'm travelling with idiots down there, I still don't get discriminated agianst by any means. Not to say that Canadians are really a separate people by any stretch, but my travels to America certainly dispell (in my opinion) the myth that America is intolerant.

As a non-American the only "bad experience" I had in the USA was being asked to address a PTA meeting in a town in Vermont because they all wanted to hear a British accent!

i'm super sorry, i know you're looking for non-americans but...i'm a naturally born American of color and i get racist remarks all the time.

i'm not african american...i'm actually part white part filipina [among other races too.] and i often get mistaked for a 'terrorist' because i have my father's eyes. my own family on my dad's side is racist against me and my mom.

I'm sorry if anyone else has had racism problems too. it's definitely not right for any of us to mistreat others.

Most of my friends are immigrants (legal, of course) and I rarely here them tell of any experience worse than hearing, "Huh", "What", "Oh honey, I'm so sorry but I can't understand you". One even said a guy kept acting like he was trying to adjust his hearing aid. He didn't have one.

She wasn't upset, though, because she said he looked and acted like someone ashamed for being less urbane.

I've always thought that was poingant. For both.

Another anti-American fishing expedition, this country has the most tolerance of people from other countries by a wide margin. we have people from every country in the world, and accept more every year, "legally", are there racists here, yes, and please don't tell me there aren't where you are, are there rude people here, yes again, and again the same there.
