Why did you lie to us all?

No Cancer~ Not female~ WHY?

How could you play on people like that?
Did you not stop to think of the people your game was effecting who really were fighting battles with cancer? Or loosing someone Near and Dear?

I am so very dissapointed in you.

Being male is the least worrysome part.

I have had a week to think this over and tried to see their side and forgive them
I just cant do it
I have been here before with someone else that I loved and spent time with ... and I wont continue to let it happen
I wish he had just came out and said ... Gnostic is male sorry

I have seen this type of thing before (which is one of the reasons why I didn't post concerning all of the Cancer, etc) I do not wish harm on another person, but I've been online long enough to know there are people out there who are very good at deceit of this kind. In the chat rooms a man played it out that he married another chatter and that 1 week after their "marriage", his "wife" got online and said he had died of some disease - sudden death. People were sending money, cards, flowers, etc to his home. Come to find out, he was alive, not married (they lived about 1000 miles from each other) and kept all of the stuff people had sent him... Then he had the nerve to get upset when people didn't talk to him anymore.

Why? It's a Game... that's all it is. And many get so wrapped up in it that they lose themselves. As Insania pointed out, they forget who they are. And, no, they do not stop to think about who it effects or that people would actually have such strong emotions towards them, because They don't feel those strong emotions. Whenever you play a simple game (an actual board game, video game) do you feel strong emotions? We all become detached from our emotions when playing games... it's the same with these types of games. I'm sorry it ended up this way (though I'm glad he's not dying of cancer - that's a good thing in itself)

This is the reason I do not get too close to people online, as hard as it is to keep from it.

What I really can't understand is this..
of all the places in the world why would anyone have the need to decieve the people who frequent R&S?
This is the first place that I felt I was able to speak my mind freely without being judged. The first place that I found friends with like interests who really liked/loved me for who I REALLY AM..not some facade.
yeah being a guy was the least of it. Cancer is just not something to joke(or whatever this was) about.

as i replied to vitamin c, it is not the pretence at another life that is surprising. but this fabrication was disturbing.

people every day are affected by cancer, and some are perhaps recently dealing with the death of their loved ones.

if a lie has become to huge that you do not know how to control it, you do not make it worse by doing this!
you simply stop. he could have just said they were moving abroad etc and deleted the account.

i can see that it has stemmed from a deep psychological problem, but as yet my forgiveness is not complete.
it is very sad, for him, and for us all.

i know that some have deleted and/or blocked 'gnostics' account now. it may seem harsh, but i can see why they would actually.

lets hope he learns from this experience. i know we all have.

Blessings Ari....disappointed is the word of the day concerning this situation.
Unfortunately, some people mistake kindness for weakness, and when they are really in need their requests will carry about as much weight as in the old storybook tale as
"The Boy Who Cried Wolf"...

I asked a question about this a couple days ago before Gnostic confessed to it.

Once I found out it really was true, I said how I felt about it at the end of the question. I would write another comment about it, but to be honest, it hurts too much to have to re-think it all again, so here's the link if you'd like to see what I and other people had to say.

I understand how he got into it initially, and I understand that he got carried away.
What I do not understand, is how he didn't realize when enough was enough and just confess. Surely alarm bells must have gone off in his head much earlier than just recently. How could he not foresee the tangled web he was about to create?
I can not understand how he thought putting his friends through the pain of Gnostic's 'death' was a good solution. It was a very cruel trick.
I can only guess that in spite of all the mature and intelligent speech, part of him was very immature.
I would like to say 'forgive and forget' but I know that for many of you, this is nigh impossible.

If this is true, Gnostic is sick in the head!
My husband is fighting cancer, has been for the last 2 years, and it's no joke.
I have starred this so that all my contacts see it.

Strangeness. Some people get so involved with who they are not they forget who they are.

There is also a mental disorder that causes people to seek attention and sympathy. It is so extreme that the deceit becomes rather elaborate. However, being anonymous and online makes it rather easy.

Thank you 'Just a Christian' for the link. I am very dissapointed at this turn of events, but why should we be surprised. We all get conned all the time.

Next time someone plays on my heartstrings they can wait in vain for sympathy or best wishes.
