I booked Detroit to San Diego return back in July through Expedia. I took the outbound, but missed the return flight (through no fault of the airline. I had intended to rebook, but forgot). I'm now returning to Detroit this month and would like to know if I can rebook the missed flight (with penalty, of course). I'm trying to get in contact with Expedia, but their wait times are well over an hour. Sigh.

Call the airline but this late in the game, you are probably out of luck. If you miss your flight, it's your responsibility to contact the airline and make alternate arrangements. Because you have not spoken with them already, there's a good chance they will say too much time has gone by to be able to use the unused portion of the fare. It's worth asking--- and ask the airline directly, not Expedia--- but don't count on it.

Also before you call, how much was the ticket? If it was less than about $250, it's probably not even worth trying. If they do allow you to rebook, they will deduct $100 from the unflown value of the ticket. Often a round-trip ticket is priced a little strange, with the outbound flight being about 60% of the full fare. So you have to have more than $100 unflown value to make it even worth calling. And I can promise you they will without a doubt hit you with the $100 charge, if they decide to be nice and let you rebook. So if it was only a $175 fare to begin with, it's not worth even calling.

Yes, i would recommend you call the airline if they could actually bend their rule because for US airways' policy once you Missed your flight they already consider it as a lost value ticket.,.,.,

next time, you should cancel or change you flight at least 2 hours before departure time for you to have credit for the ticket in which you could use on your next reservation and normally that credit is valid one year prior to the original ticket issue.

Call the airline not the expedia. Or best call the the airport airline staff.

Try contacting the airline directly, not expedia.

If you are late then call US Airways as soon as you land to be rescheduled. You should then lodge a complaint with Cape Air before you leave the airport again.
