I don't know about other Muslims but the reason why I pray to God is because I want to thank him for what he gave me. Of course I would alos like to go to heaven but believing in hell also plays a role here. Nobody knows for sure if he or she is going to heaven but if we avoid sins as much as we can we can tell if we are going to hell or not although it is not definite. I mean a person may worship god all their life but at the same time commit a lot of sins and then they go to hell. That is why I make my prayer to got just to thank him and at the same time, I avoid sins to avoid hell. When I do good things to others I rather do them for my life here. People will love me more and also want to help me and probably god will love me more for helping his creatures.
I only started to pray two years ago when I became 19, I realized that god gave me a lot of things and I didn't giver him anything so the least thing i can do to him is pray to him.

Now, THAT is a truly interesting question!
I'd have to think about it awhile to give a thoughtful answer, but my knee-jerk feeling is no.
I don't know what the incentive would be.
They only say the things that make good sense. I have no issue with any of the the religions; they all basically say "love one another, and do no harm."
I just nit-pick some of the "details".
But worship? I don't think so.
Wow. Now, THAT IS A GREAT QUESTION!
(And I'm really uncomfortable, now that you've asked it.) }:>

this is Sufi type question to motivate "the walker"
In Islam, there 3 types of people to worship the creator
1. The trader, you do/don't something to expect a return
2. The slave, you do/don't something because you were asked to
3. The lovers, you do/don't destroying yourself just to reach the creator.
The answer will show your position to worship The Creator

Yes because the things you can gain spiritually in this life can compare to the things of heaven that will come. The joy, peace, and fullness of heart make up for so much that we go through here on earth even without heaven.

Nope. Because hope is what keeps us going through all we go through. Most christians I know rely on the fact that if they had a bad life on earth they can have heaven as a consolation.

Noone knows what to really believe in, but we can all believe this.....that we are all part of some huge phenomenon. We believe we had a beginning. We KNOW we had a beginning. So why not have faith in an end ?

Maybe, it would depend on whether there was any compulsion in religion (there usually is with Christianity and Islam).
