Contact your local red cross and salvation army. They are both in that business and they are both worldwide. They will give you drop off details and may even be willing to pick the supplies up from you.

Thank you for that altruistic question you posed. You can preferably give your items to third world countries such as mine - the Philippines. Actually I am involved in several civic oriented organizations, and one of this is the Rotary Club of Metro Butuan. In this club, we do community development proposals like "Adopt a Village Project" for one of the depressed areas here in Butuan City. The counterpart Rotary Club in U.S.A. has provided the blessing for us to go for it. Previously, we already gave books, water pump, computer sets for a community school in that village known as Nongnong. Now, we aim to expand our tent of intervention with the community.
In another organization, we do free medical and dental clinics, my wife being a pediatrician and my friend being a dentist, plus other medical entourage. We storm the mountains and farflung areas just to provide this needed help. The natives or indigenous people were just too glad that help comes right at their doorstep.
In another organization, we facilitated the surrender of dissidents and rebels - a risky job actually.
In between, we always meet children who needed help. So if you want to do the pains of giving, then you can try us. The children would be needing those sorts of items.
The better way is that if you can pay a visit to us then we can host your stay for a few days of observation or getting to know. Mind you, there are lots of aids coming from everywhere that had not been porperly disposed because the go-betweens are not credible.
You may contact me through my email ad.

Why limit your options to international organizations? The logistics of getting hygeine kits sent off, and into the hands of people in need, can be very daunting, and very expensive.
It seems to me like you are a little backwards in the planning for your project. Researching what a charitable organization needs, what sorts of projects they are seeking help with, should be the first step. This is especially important with international groups because most have very specific needs, specific projects, and most do not have the facilities, funds, people, or transportation to handle small batches of any sort of kit. Unless you find an organization specifically requesting the sort of kit you are working on, for a very small scale project, I don't know how your kits could reach people in need.
It is possible that a charity in your community could use hygeine kits. I know that the two organizations already mentioned use hygeine kits-The Salvation Army, especially for their shelters. Your local Red Cross responds to small, like single family, disasters every day. Most Red Cross chapters provide "comfort kits" to people who have lost their homes to fire, floods, etc, every day. Most people only think of the Red Cross when there has been a large disaster, and so few of us think to help out with the work that they do every day right in our own community. Another group that I've donated hygeine kits to is our local domestic abuse shelter. People who leave abusive home situations often escape with few personal articles and little to no money....so your kits might be very welcome.

Homeless shelters in your area could probably make good use of them.
Also, many church grops plan trips abroad and transport such items when they visit missionary projects, orphanages, etc. They would probably be pleased with the donation.

Contact them and tell then you can't afford it anymore. If they say too bad, you signed a contract or something like that, try closing the account you gave them. It sucks closing accounts but sometimes it's all you can do. If it's a bank account, close it and open a new one or if it's a credit card you'd have to cancel it/put a freeze on it.

YES!!!
Visit www.risingfountains.org
You can email Mathias Zimba directly. I believe their mailing address (with PO Box) is on the website as well. I have worked with him before and he is wonderful. They are in rural Africa and literally have NOTHING! I know they would be thrilled to receive it b/c of all the HIV/Aids they are dealing with on a daily basis!
Good luck and tell him Maria sent you! :)
