I once had solid faith in god. Over years of trials and things, I have weak faith in god now. I do believe in him still, I just don't see believing in him as helpful. I want to restore my faith but don't know how. I feel as if I need proof or something he is with me. Can someone please help?

Angelina I'm sorry that you have lost your faith, and also your relationship with God. How do you restore your faith in God, and your relationship with him? How do you build your relationship with a friend or a boyfriend, do you not try to find out as much about them as you possibly can? Of course you do, you cannot believe in someone or build a relationship with them without knowing them well, can you?Like you say. just believing in God is not helpful, you do really need to get reacquainted with him and learn more about him, he may not be with you right now but if you make an effort to learn more about him by searching out knowledge about him he will bless you for that and you will know that he is with you for he will open your eyes so you can see the evidence. But you have to want to get to know him if you do, he will know, just as he will know, if you really do want to know him, in which case he will be right by your side helping you to find your way to him every step of the way. I would love to help you but I have no idea where you are or how to contact you May God bless your efforts to find him, and learn about him. (Numbers6:24-26)

If you do not see believing in him as helpful, then why are you on a quest to rediscover him? It is great that you wish to restore your faith, but the question will stand as why? Many people in today's society will tell you that you have to be weak, mentally, to believe in God. I have found that to be wrong, that it is those who do believe in God to be strong. These people are strong because they believe in something other that themselves.

Why is it that people can be cured of diseases that the medical field cannot cure? Science will tell you that it cannot happen, and yet it does. Scientist and Doctor's will scratch their heads trying to figure it out while floating a number of theories. A theory is hope that facts will someday bring to truth, until then, it is not a fact.

Meanwhile, the people who are cured will tell you that it is the hand of God. The fact is that they were there when it happened, and have the knowledge of what happened to them, and know who was responsible. They do not have to scratch their heads, thinking of possibilities to alleviate their fears of the unknown.

Jesus spoke of the faith the size of a mustard seed. As you are on your quest back to God, you will need to see just how strong your faith really is. If it does not move mountains, then there will be areas of growth that you must work on. The trials of life are what define you; your trials do not define God. The scriptures of Job showed that he went through terrible trials. Job did not lose faith in God. He did question God, but he did not lose his faith. The trials that Job went through defined who he was as a person, and who he was in his faith.

If you seek God, you will find him. Know this, however, more trials will take place. Prayer and time with scripture will help you in your search. Jesus said to take his yoke, for it is easier than that of the yoke of the world.

Stay strong and God Bless.

I believe that your lack of faith enables you to see the true reality of how amazing God truly is. All things happen for a reason...despite the fact that your trials may be troubling to you. Sometimes it is not easy to see why God does things in your life but as time passes by the answer is revealed. I suggest to you..to never doubt God's will. Having faith is what separates you from the rest. It is only faith that God's spirit can truly bless your heart. reading the bible can always give you clarity:)

"Faith is what we hope for and being certain of what we cannot see. "

that's from the book of Hebrews, and that 's all the leap of faith God needs from you.

What about those trials you mentioned, start there. Say a prayer for understanding and really look back over your trials. Sometimes our trials and tribulations have an odd way of teaching us skills that come in handy later in life. Maybe God was being helpful even then.

I was like you a couple years ago...
except, I actually went from "yeah, god is there but whatever." to "what god?". when i was a child, i had a hard life and so, i pretty much believed like you...thinking that he wasnt helping me any.

1 death and an abusive relationship later, i gained my faith back because there wasnt really anywhere else to go but up. and i figured, well..i'm still alive now, so he's helped me out thus far. now, i'm not saying that you have to go through something tramatic in order to restore your faith...but, you need to want to believe. dont allow anyone else to force you into anything spiritual if it's just not your time yet. however, asking this question means that you still want faith. if you have any friends that have a strong relationship with God, go with them to church. have bible talks and that sorta thing.

i wish all the best to you.

Dear one--Just the fact that you wish to return to Him is proof enough for me. He is calling you to come to Him again.

Remember, he is merciful and quick to forgive. Just because you believe in God does not mean you will have a charmed life. Many times, God sends some of his harshest trials to those He loves the most....so you must be very loved and He is anxious for you to join him again.

When under fire with trials and tribulations, offer them up to Him...join Him in His Passion. That's how I remember that no matter what happens to me, I can never suffer as much as He did for me although I gladly accept anything He sends my way and I can never repay Him with enough love and praise no matter how long I live or how much I pray.

The Bible says, the Lord loves a humble and contrite heart.
Go back to Him... Talk to Him... Read His Word...

He's waiting for you. You are in my prayers,

In Humility,
j

Many people look for a way to find God so that they can feel something tangible. They want to feel His presence, and feel changed. Really, I would say the best way to find God is to look outside yourself. Do good things to others... Look after the sick and the elderly, help the needy, give a smile to a stranger. Once you start spreading love, you will find the love of God coming back to you...

Your trials are similar to many other people's trials. These are tests on your journey. Become stronger from them and learn from them! You can become a better person from them depending on how well you meet the challenges. Teach others about the wisdom that you gained to help others.

Take care...

You probably won't be able to. Once you start to doubt you never go back (though the process is often painful).

I know that you probably will end up fearing your loss of faith but once you've gotten through it you'll see faith as being a bad thing.

I used to be so into myself that i also ask the same questions. but over the years, and after many church attendance, i have learned a couple of things:
1. we are alive not for ourselves, but for God
2. God dont give us what we want, just what we need.. and all we need is God.. Jesus is our only wealth in life.
3. "nothing falls to the ground, unless it is the will of God" - so that keeps my faith in Him. If anything happens, maybe that is what he intends.. so what do we havr to worry about ? just keep praying for the best.. and if it doesnt happen, well, it doesnt. life is full of trials - not just for u, but for everyone.. we just dont see what another person is really going through; but yes, life is fair.
4. no one is spared of trials in life, bec the goal on earth is to (1) love ur neighbor as u love urself, (2) save souls. so if u r unhappy, welll thats what life intends to be. if u r happy, then that is a destiny for the day. but yes, keep on believeing that God is at work in everything.

i went through same confusion as u, and soemtimes still do.. but i keep the faith that at least i am not going thorugh tough times i cannot handle. come to think of it, bad circumstances, like good circumstances are both fleeting.....
