Lust means satisfying to gratify one's personal senses. And, and love means trying to satisfy the senses of the lover. And who is the lover? Krishna, the supreme lover. So one is called love, and the other is called lust, Käma and prema, this is the difference.

love is a state of being, you can love anything its a happy state of mind, and everything about you is flowering, anyone in the company of a happy person gets happiness in return. This is called the state of being. Lust on the other hand is more sexual, the attraction is only on the southern pole and the fever is very high, once the fever goes down lust also goes. in love it is not so, love an be without lust also, like the love of a mother an d child, love we have for god,
love can be with lust but lust cannot have love.

Gunarahitam Kamanarahitam,pratikshanavardhamanam avichhinnam sukshmataram anubhavarupam.
Such love (Bhakti) is devoid of any characteristic, it is free of any desire, it increases with time, it is subtler than the subtlest and it is of the nature of the experience. This is the definition of Bhakti that it is devoid of any characteristic. It is free to Satvika, Rajasika or Tamasika,, Gunas. It is beyond gunas. Love is free of all the shackles of the world and it is beyond it. Neither there is any desire in it nor there is any precondition. It does not require any proper support. One quality of love is god on increasing only. The difference between lust and love is that the lust decreases once the object of lust is achieved but love only grows and increases. When the object (God) is achieved it increases even more. Love is very subtle. It cannot be analyzed. It can only be experienced. It cannot be defined. (Ref: Bhagavat gita Ch. IX versa 30,31 & 32).-

Love is when you think and care for your partner. Lust is you only care about yourself. Love makes it a blissful union, lust becomes a tiresome activity. Love is God, Lust is Devil.

Where there is Lust, there is no room for God, and where there is no room for God, there is no room for REAL LOVE. Real Love, true and pure, like God's, is SELFLESS. Lust on the other hand, is SELFISH. God calls all to pure love, even the married. Yup, I said it. Even a married woman is not to lust after her husband or vice versa. They are supposed to Love one another, that means, selflessly give themselves to one another...even in all their sexual relations...not lustfully aka selfishly give themselves to one another for their own pleasures and needs.
So I guess thats the difference:
Lust is a selflish feeling that kicks God out of the equation
Love on the other hand, glorifies God's love for us, and is true and pure, as He is.
God Bless :)
