Dancer, the question was do Catholics believe this, not whether it's considered right or wrong.
Yes, we do believe this. It is Scriptural.
John 1:1, "the Word was God". (There are "translations" that insert "a god" instead; this is not only a feeble attempt to deny Christ's divinity, it violates the First Commandment and goes against Isaiah 43:10). John 1:14 - the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
John 10:30: I and my Father are one. See also John 17:11.
John 1:18 - "only begotten" does not mean "created". It comes from the Greek meaning "unique".
Acts 20:28 - "Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood." (KJV) Whose blood was shed? That of Christ -- fully God and fully man.
These are just a few examples.

The Great Apostasy that Jesus Referred 2 in the Book of Matthew FORETOLD that there would be a FALLING AWAY from the faith !
The Catholic Church STARTED the Idea of Jesus Being GOD and the Catholic Religion ALSO started the GREAT APOSTASY that was Foretold by Jesus !

Yes. However, that teaching is wrong. When Gabriel told Mary that she would have a son, what did he say that child would be called? God? NO! At Luke 1:32, 35, Gabriel said: "This one will be great and will be called Son of the Most High; and Jehovah God will give him the throne of David his father. Holy spirit will come upon you, and power of the Most High will overshadow you. For that reason also what is born will be called holy, God’s Son."
So Gabriel told Mary that she would give birth to God's SON, NOT to God himself. How much more plain can you get?
