So this customer came up to the counter where I work and was complaining because she was in one of the 100's of rooms our hotel evacuated. She was saying how awful it was to be woken up at 1am to leave your room and having to pack up and go to another room.

I asked the lady if she was seriously thought this was a problem? She just looked at me. So I yelled "What the hell is wrong with you lady this is Vegas you aren't supposed to be asleep at 1am!"

She started crying and ran off.

But come on am I the only one who sees a problem with being in bed at 1am when in Vegas??? I mean she wouldn't of been woken up if she hadn't been in bed like a baby!

Why would she start crying when I was just trying to point out to her she should be out having fun in Vegas?

Well you certainly should be fired. Maybe she had her Vegas fun during the day. Maybe she has health issues that make it hard for her to be up all hours. Anyway, you were needlessly mean and if you were my employee you would be canned on the spot. Your job is to be of service to the customer, not to point out what you think their flaws are.

What if she was working or had jetlag or was in vegas for a funeral or to visit someone who was sick or some other such reason? Just because most people who go to Vegas are probably there for fun does not mean everyone is there for the same reason.

I would certainly give you at least a warning if you were my employee and I saw or heard of you behaving towards a customer in such a way. You had no right to tell her what she should be doing in her hotel room at 1am.

Well let me clue you in. Just because that is how you look at Vegas, doesn't mean everyone is like you. I went to Vegas for a trade show....that took all day and was exhausting....so when I went to bed I was tired. Maybe she did the same thing.

Do you think everyone is a compulsive gambler. The only machine I played was a nickle one...out of the whole time I was there.

And the reason she cried is she was tired, and you were rude, ill mannered and made her feel bad, when my guess is you are supposed to be polite to the guests who are paying for a room...however they want to use it!

You sound like you yelled at her...quoting your own words.
You deserved to be fired for treating a customer like that.

I'm hoping this is a joke, because surely you know that yelling at a customer is not good customer service. It seems unlikely that a lot of people will come to Vegas to sleep, but 1 am is quite late. Perhaps she was just tired out by that time. Who am I to tell someone what she should be doing with her vacation? It's not the employee's place to judge.

Maybe sleeping was her idea of a relaxing vacation. Not everyone who goes to Vegas stays out all night. Yes she was a little emotional, but I'd be upset too if I had to pack up and move to another room in the middle of the night. Have a heart and cut her a break.

PS. not everyone is a night owl

i went and i slept but when i got home i discovered i was pregnant so i had an excuse otherwise i'm stomped... now that is the city that never sleeps but in any respect you should not have yelled at someone that might have been there for other reasons like the shows and the shopping you had no right i am apauled

maybe she wasn't sleeping, but needed someothing polite to say.

You think all of your customers that are in bed at 1am are sleeping? Maybe you don't know vegas as well as you think!

PS - no one has mentioned jet lag yet :)

People still need to sleep no matter where they are. Have you not slept since you have been there? You yell at your customers? You should be fired.

Maybe she was tired.
Maybe she came on a business trip and had some important work to do the next day.
Maybe she was sick.

You were wrong.

You definitely need too calm down your reaction to people. Not all people are into drinking all night, and wasting away their money. Relax Guy, and find that lady, and apoligize!!!
