Contrary to what many think, the artificial hormone injections in animals is being passed on to people. That hormone causes the animal to produced more or grow faster.
Children are not only fat, but they are growing mustaches in grade school and maturing at the speed of light. Emotions are all messed up - more girls are committing suicide.
Groceries are expensive when people switch to all organic foods, but if people would just change to only using organic products when it is from an animal or bird, they would feel better and their bodies would start to heal.
Organic milk and meats are especially important for pregnant women and children.
After that, get rid of the refined sugar, flour, etc. What ever happened to baking at home? Use whole grains and raw sugar or honey, etc. If your time is really limited, have a baking day on the weekends with some other moms and barter with each other so you get a good mix of home baked products that are nutritious - without spending the whole weekend baking.
Stop doing fast foods. Go home and throw on a pot of pasta, rice or some type of whole grain filler. Throw the meat and veggies in a pan with some olive oil or other good oil and stir fry your food - dinner in 15 minutes that tastes good, doesn't heat up the house and fills everyone up.
How about soups made ahead of time over the weekend and thrown in the freezer for something fast when you need it. Everyone is in a rush these days with both parents working. Kids are going home to an empty house full of cookies and candy to tide them over.
Change this to them getting a healthy after school snack like fruits and cut up veggies with peanut butter and whole grain crackers. Keep plenty of juice without sugar on hand for after school to give them the energy they need to keep going.
If the kids are old enough, get them busy preparing the food that needs to be cooked when you get home - like getting the veggies cut up for a stir fry, taking meat out of the freezer to thaw for the grill.
Get the kids involved in making decisions for dinner - make it a game. Whoever puts together the healthiest dinner during the week gets to decide what you're doing on the weekend, or gets a something special at the end of the month for the most nutritious meals.
As to exercise, why are kids living at school? They should be there long enough to learn what they need to and then be home to do their extra curricular activities - like forming a baseball team with the kids in the neighborhood. Get volunteer parents and take turns being responsible for headcounts so no one goes missing.
How about the YMCA, bicycling, basketball, jump rope, swimming. How about volunteering at the local animal shelter to help bath the animals, clean their litter boxes, take them for a walk, play with them, etc. There is an endless amount of activities to do.
What about vacumning and dusting, doing laundry. Family means everyone pitches in and gets the job done so you can spend quality time together as a family - you know, time to listen to how your kids' day went and if they need any help.
How many children eat out of boredom - just like adults. How many eat because no one cares about them - so it becomes a crutch. Do you allow your kids to eat in front of the tv or at the kitchen table only?
These are all just suggestions - maybe some will help. I know organic milk and meat, whole grains and unrefined foods make a huge difference. Always have fresh cut up veggies on hand - just sitting around. They make great tv snacks too - along with other finger foods like fruit.

Back just 20-30 years ago there were hardly any overweight children.. why? More mothers are working full time, meaning less time to cook a good nutrious meal. Throw in some mcdonalds for dinner, warm up the hot dogs with chips, and sugary desert after dinner. This is the generation for fast foods, fast cooking time, no dishes, less hastle for our busy lifestyle. Because of it children are taking about 400+ more calories per day than a few generations ago.
Everyone now days own a car!! What happened to children walking to school and back to their house every day, we have parents who pick them up now! No more walking to the mall with parents being their kids shofurs.
Kids now days also have a lot of money on them, they can buy soda and chips at schools vending machines. They can go to a convenient store and buy anything they want after school without needing to go home to eat a snack.
There are soooo many factors to why children are becoming more and more obease.
Computers, video games, TV are all contributing factors, instead of excercizing, kids are glued to a screen for 8 hours on a saturday afternoon doing nothing but sitting and eating.

Spread the word of healthy eating habits.
I thought they were modernizing the food pyramid? But the last time I look at one it still had like 10+ servings of grains a day, which is ludicrous!
Try to lobby to get schools to not feed the kids white flour, sugar and fried foods. PE everyday for all students, placing kids of similar levels of fitness in the same class.
What we really need to do is tax junk food to offset the cost of healthy food. I eat a healthy diet of leans meat, fruits/veggies, organic wheat breads, etc. and even buying in bulk from Costco it's more expensive than eating what the masses eat (white bread, sugar/flour cereals, chips, noodles, etc).
They say Las Vegas is the "sin city", but all you have to do is turn on your TV and your surrounded with horrible foods, alcohol and pills.
But hey, when the government seems to back the crooked health-care system, which in turn need unhealthy people to make their billions...

Personally, I think it has a lot to do with the fact that it is much cheaper to feed a family unhealthy food than it is to eat healthy.
About a year ago, my husband and I switched to a low sugar, low fat, whole grain, all organic, lots of fruits and veggie diet (AKA "Eating Healthy). Our grocery bills are about 3X as much as they were before. For a lot of families, this isn't possible.
