why does he roll over on bugs?? he has done it a couple of times. there was a moth on the ground and he was rolling back and forth on it..... and then he did it today, there was a bug on the floor and he started rolling around on it. is he just a weirdo?

Dogs roll on things to cover their scent. Before they were domesticated, they would cover their scent while hunting or when they were hiding from other animals.

Absolutely not a weirdo. Your dog is doing this because of the scent on the moths. Moths have an odor that is a lot like fecal matter. I am sure that you have heard of dogs rolling in dog poo.

Dogs roll on things. Just be glad the bug didn't smell. Ours once found old bad elk poop and . . . .

Solving the problem is a better way...Just try to change this habit.. when you see him rolling on the floor , just pull him away and command a firm "NO".
