There are too many religions and most of them are so similar there is really no reason that they have different names. I would get rid of religions and let everyone have their own individual beliefs at their own home.

Even if someone doesn't belong or doesn't believe in a religion he/she knows in their heart whether their thoughts and actions are right or wrong. A religion is essential for the well-being of a community or society, as that is almost the only ethical barrier that seperates humans from animals. I am a Buddhist and Buddhism is not a religion which many think it is. It is a teaching and anyone has freedom to have a look at it and if he/she feels it is the truth he/she can make it his or her guide for the rest of their lives. It is not about immortality or supreem luxury though which many other religions base their aspects.

My conclusion is that there are two kinds of people , first one , ritualists and second, analytical rationalists.
Ritualism - It came from africa when man originated from apes there. Judaism, Hinduism, Greeks, zoroatrianism, islam, animism, satanism, paganism belong to it. They have had bloody sacrifices as rituals. Racism and casteism is prevalent , they always categorize & divide human beings into higher and lower, white & black, pure & impure, superior & inferior, types , falsely. Due these false beliefs and practices, they are always at war & lead to misery.
Analytical rationalism : Buddhism, Christianity, Sankhya system. These are humane, based on equality & on practice of kindness & compassion to others and self analysis of cause & effect. However these were all started by Buddha who became an atheist after enlightenment from self analysis.

You have to look at the roots of how different religions originate and many of them would be eliminated just by this method. Many exist as generations instill the belief into the next generation. However, as with me and for many Christian believers, it wasn't passed down , rather, we experience the Life that comes from believing unto our Lord. There is no hope without Jesus.

Love each other, take care of each other, and when we die, we will either be rewarded for our good deeds or punished for our crimes. Those seem to be the common themes in most world faiths.
Who knows? Maybe some day people will even begin practicing them.

Probably that all the religions can't agree with each other.
Which given that only one of them could be right would mean that all but one (or maybe even all) are *wrong*.

Some religions are more valid than others, but no single religion has a monopoly on truth.
I just had a sense of deja vu, that I wrote that same answer here about a year ago.

One can study themselves into confusion. This is based on personal experience, the guiding and deciding question is always, "what does God say"?
