give him a bath with an oatmeal shampoo. he may have dermatitis or some other skin condition. Dog vitamins may be benificial. He may also have an alergy to the dog food you are feeding him. If it contains a lot of corn meal some dogs are sensitive to it.

It might be an adverse reaction to someone... how long has it been happening?
He might also have allergies. My dog has severe allergies and has his entire life (he's 13 now). Very prone to rashes. A bit of fish oil/Omega fatty acids put in/on his food does a pretty good job at keeping it to a minimum. You might also wanna see if he itches more around certain things... he could be allergic to some sort of fabric or bedding, or even food. If he feed him major brand kibble, you should probably stop... something all natural without corn, etc... is preferable. Canidae is a great all purpose organic dog food, and it's not any more expensive than the major brands.
Otherwise... take him to the vet again.

It takes a total of 3 days before the flea med. rids all fleas.
Perhaps, his itching is a food allergy, try switching the food you're giving him to another.
Like a lamb/rice diet or raw diet with supplement wheat-free kibble.
He's only a pup of few mths. old and will whimper/whine for some loving attention.
And be thankful, he's NOT a barker!
***Oh, my sister's boxer got the loudest and worse gas from eating anything with yeast,.. like toast/bread mixed in with food.

You've already been to the vet - so pick up the phone to them and direct these questions at them!!
It might still be fleas - if you're not treating your house too, it's a possibility. If it isn't fleas, there are many things that cause scratching, ask your vet.

Scratching, plus gas.....usually means he may be allergic to something in the food. What are you feeding him? Try to purchase something that doesn't have corn in it. That's the most common thing that dogs get allergies to. It's in a lot of the cheaper foods, also.

He needs fibre in his diet. It might take him time to get used to his new diet he gets from your care. Oh, yeah, get him wormed, too, because parasites will cause diarreah, which may contribute to his gas.
As for the itch--if it comes with hair loss, it's mange, which is not tragic, but takes time and work to get rid of. Other than that, it may just be allergies. There are plenty of over-the-counter solutions for itchy skin, plus with a good diet, and your pup will be good to go.
Good luck with him!!

That's so nice of you to adopt a puppy. He might have mites though. These pesky critters aren't usually very visible to the naked eye. Try checking his ears, if you see some white little things crawling in there then it's definitely mites!

Keep in mind that the food substance that dogs are commonly allergic to is Corn. It makes them itch. Feed him food that doesn't contain Corn and see if it makes a difference.

Well sometimes if your dog skin is dry.... it probably causes him to scratch himself crazily.
so, try get a suppliment for dogs from your vet.
they do have a suppliment which you pumps it in your dogs food....to help them to maintain moisutre to the skin. It might help.
My dog is doing same thing ... I hope it helps
