I think as a Christian, it is important to confront certain challenges from atheists. Here is one:
Leviticus 20:13. This verse has God saying to Moses that homosexuals caught in the act should be killed.
While this may seem bad, it is important to note that this . ONLY applied to Jews and the penalty for MANY sins was death. It wasn't just for homosexuality. It was sactioned by God because it was a different time. It was before Jesus. When Jesus came, he washed away our sins for those who are Christian, so it was no longer necessary for this type of punishment. He took the sins of the world upon himself. Also, Moses was dealing with slaves that would NOT listen to reason. Remember the story of Moses going up in the mountain and returning to find people worshipping a golden calf?
What are your thoughts?

This law was put into place for their own good because the people of Moses were so close from turning away from the one true God. It was harsh and strict, but it was done for the preservation of his people.

A world without aids sounds good to me. It also sounds and looks good to me when I am told that I am loved. Forgiveness sounds good too, and wow, it sounds supremely good that God forgives me, or would if I did something wrong! It sounds good that there is a place for me to go after I die--a place where the streets are made of gold! Shall I go on? You see the point? Even if there wasn't a God that I could see, at least I can hold onto the hope that this life means something. going into blackness doesn't seem very attractive to me. Going into Hell doesn't seem attractive to me either. I am left with one alternative-a bright and wonderful heaven. Let the atheists go ahead and call me delusional. But who has the better mentality--break it down, go ahead. Are non-Christians sad all the time because of the fear they have of going into blackness or a heated hell--who has the better delusion, me or them? For me, I will abstain from homosexuality, and all forms of licentiousness, for any and all forms of sin as best as the Holy Spirit will lead me. And for that I am eternally grateful.

What I think most Christians need to realize is that, although inspired by God, and written by prophets, the Bible was compiled, edited, and translated many times by the Catholic church. Some, if not many verses have lost their true meaning. Yes the Bible is Holy and it should be studied and pondered upon, but build a relationship with Jesus through prayer, and let that help guide you.

No, a god who orders gays to be killed is just a plain bad god. Bible is full of bad verses and you can't say anything to change that. Bible remains full of contradictions, absurdities, bad things, and lies.
And who gives a stuff about Moses or Jewish tribes, what sort of regional small-time god is that?

Ok lets break this down shall we, Since you only think that these Laws applied to the jews then it only stands to reason that
1. Since Jesus was a jew he only died for the jews
2. Since the jews are gods chosen people the bible and Jesus only applies to jews
3. All these stories were created by the Judaic culture for the Judaic Culture! Just like the Greeks had Zeus and the Aztecs Had their gods and the Sumerians had mazda!!!! Come on man get with the program

You don't have to take stuff "out of context" to have an issue with the Bible.
For example, God killed Onan's brother for no real disclosed reason, and then killed Onan cos he prefered to produce an heir of his own - not one for his brother. Then his mom got all whored up and tricked her father-in-law into getting her pregnant. What's to take out of context? This is just a tawdry tale.
Earlier, Lot offers a mob of sex-crazed villagers his two virgin daughters if they'll only leave two strangers alone. Hellooo? Is this good parenting? Apparently so - after God smokes Mrs. Lot into a pillar of salt, his two daughters get themselves pregnant by their dad. More good parenting? I think Sponge Bob has more relevance, and I don't even watch Sponge Bob, but ANYTHING is better than living like THAT!

the magic man that lives in the sky, he loves you, he wants the best for you, but there are some things he doesn't want you to do, but he loves you and wants you to go to heaven, peace and love forever. but if you do not love him the right way you go to hell and suffer forever. burning, torture, pain, but he loves you. that's why he lets kids die and old women get raped, and people suffer with cancer. people's mind slip away and forget the family that loves them.
if god and jesus are the same being, why are their teachings so different?

I believe Moses totally misunderstood what God was revealing to him. Jesus came and taught a totally different philosophy on life One of them had it wrong. I'd say it was Moses. Jesus demonstrated love and compassion. Moses believed in an eye for an eye.

Fine. Suppose it was your brother or father who was singled out by God for murder by the masses. Enjoy your faith? In what way is this different from the genocide caused by the Nazi's in which 500,000 homosexuals were gassed and incinerated to preserve Teutonic purity?
Nothing is worth such murder: Not purity, not dogma, not God. If you can justify murder of homosexuals, Noah's flood, destruction of Sodom and Gamorah, plundering Caanan, or any other such bloodthirsty mayhem for the sake of religious "justice," then you can justify anything.

Are these good or bad verses ?
“There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were hung like donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.
You longed for….. youth, when in Egypt your buttocks were caressed and your young firm breasts fondled. “ (Holy Bible - Ezekiel 23:20-21)
“……for in her youth men had lain with her, handled her youthful teats and ejaculated upon her breasts. “ (Holy Bible - Ezekiel 23:8)
….
