NO they don't!
Flea collars are impregnated with a (rubbish) flea-killing chemical - trouble is, it doesn't spread through the skin, it's only present on the neck of the animal! So if the fleas stay away from the neck, they're fine!! Flea collars often cause reactions too - hair loss being the most likely. Don't bother with them.
Get a spot-on from a vets, like Frontline - this stuff works and is safe. Stay away from store-bought products, and other dangerous and ineffective stuff.

I disapprove of flea collars. I've heard of animals getting chemical burns, or other skin reactions from them. All the chemicals are directly on the neck, and they do not protect the rest of the body from fleas. It only repels them from the neck (which fleas do not tend to group up, anyways).
It's a waste of money, in my personal opinion. I would just get some Frontline or Advantage and apply once a month.

Flea collars are antiquated and never used. They're toxic to dogs and humans... many dogs have severe reactions to them, and some die.
The best bet is a topical application, such as Frontline. Much safer.

Flea collars can kill your pet if he/she is sensitive. I know a person who's cat died from a Hartz flea collar. So I wouldn't risk it. Use K9 Advantix or Frontline.

Maybe a Little they have never been really effective any time I ever used them. Your best bet is a topical flea medicine. Like revolution or frontline.
