I'm currently considering making Turkish Delight candy for Christmas, and the recipe requires rosewater.

A specialty food store should have it. In Phoenix we have Aj's Fine Foods that has a lot of hard to find and expensive items.

I'd recommend buying it online from an aromatherapy company. True rose water is the aqueous distillate of the flowers - you can't really make it at home. They also call it a Hydrosol.

They will have *genuine* rose water, and not water that a tiny fraction of a drop of rose oil has been added too. (the water an the oil are different). You also want it fresh, and keep it in the fridge - it will last about a year or so.

Also, a little goes a long way. I have a recipe for a 'Turkish Princess Rose Cake' that uses the rose water in the frosting, and it's wonderful.

Enjoy, your candies will be the REAL thing and sound heavenly!

Here is a source I trust: http://www.naturesgift.com/hydrosol_order.htm

PS I do not work for either company.

Whole Foods sells it. It's usually in the section with the Essential Oils, but it is probably the type of Rosewater you are looking for (no chemicals or perfumes in it). I've used it in concoctions for my hair due to it having natural ingredients.

Here is an inexpensive solution...put 2 cups of water in a pot and 2-4 organic rose petals...buy some for your significant other or a friend...they and you will be happy :) Simmer for about 20 minutes, strain and put in a sterilized jar...store in the refrigerator for about 2 weeks...Have fun.
