No. The Bible will never change. It is complete for any year. That means that, if you have a huband you should follow him instead of make him do stuff or be the leader. If they are sins then they are sins. You should always ask for forgivness. The Bible is the only way to heaven. I don't know what religion you are, but I am Christian. Hear is a verse you can look up for answers. 1 Peter 3:1

You're asking so many of the questions I've talked openly about with very relgious people. I believe that as women, we are to be submissive to our husbands in the fact that we obey what they say. In the church, the man is recognized as the head of the household, and in that aspect women are called by God to obey the decisions they make and to be supportive and trusting. That's why picking a good husband is so important- you want a man who can lead your family honorably. What I've been taught about women in leadership positions is referenced in the Bible as women aren't supposed to be religious leaders. I think a lot of it goes back to the reference as men as the head of the household, or the church. There is nothing wrong with women being teachers or bosses. Women can fufill those duties just as well as men. No matter what your sex, bosses and teachers need to have characteristcs to be respected and trusted. Sometimes it seems like the Bible is outdated, but I personally don't think it is. I think times are changing so fast nowadays, the Bible is a really powerful tool to keep your head on straight. As for the sin thing, I don't think any of that has changed. For me personally, anything that goes against the ten ommandments in the Bible I consider a sin- honesty, profanity, respect, ect. But as we all know, God is the governing authority over what is right or wrong. I just have to ask myself, "Would this be pleasing to God if I did/said/thought this right now?" and if the answer is no, then I probably shouldn't be doing it. :)
These are by no means "answers" to your questions. Just conclusions I've come to over the past several years of being a Christian and learning. Maybe these can offer some insights so you can come to your own conclusions. Best of luck!

Who can? We are all human, and God knows that. Character defects are what the Bible is trying to get us to become aware of, and trust in a higher power to help us, although we will never become perfect. What is commonplace is still a sin. And don't be deceived into thinking that intelligence is the same as wisdom, that sophistication is the same as spiritual growth. Who decides what is a sin--the word of God. And why wouldn't a woman teacher or boss ask for forgiveness if she has done wrong? There is healing in doing that. And religiously adhering to something--any human knows they can't--WE ARE HUMAN--bound to make mistakes, that is why God forgives us--seven time seventy if needs be. I contend that the Bible reads like an archaic book, full of words and statements we can't understand, and maybe don't want to because we are frustrated and angry about the way it doesn't speak to us directly, but on a gentler side, it can if we let it.
I wish you well, and I will pray for you and yours.

God is merely a placebo effect... A placebo is a drug, or assistment substance which, when given to a patient effects their resistance without having any attributes to do so. An example would be a sugar pill given to someone, while telling that person that it will prevent them from aquiring the flu. They will then be statistically more likely to resist the flu. Or there is this: Why do placebos work? Tor Wager makes his living inflicting pain. As a psychologist at Columbia University, he zaps people with brief electric surges in order to study the placebo effect, one of the most mysterious phenomena in modern medicine. In one recent experiment, Wager and a group of colleagues delivered harsh shocks to the wrists of 24 test subjects. Then the researchers rubbed an inert cream on the subjects’ wrists but told them it contained an analgesic. When the scientists delivered the next set of shocks, eight of the subjects reported experiencing significantly less pain. What this essentially proves is that the human mind is capable of convincing itself to physically react to belief. Therefore, it is completely within reason to compare religion to a placebo... they feel that god is there, because they think he is there. Thus, rendering the feeling argument less profound. But, as to the answer of there being one true religion, the simple fact is no. There is not. If there were indeed one true religion, one that had everything perfectly right, there would be no arguement against it. There are FAR too many logical fallacies and inconsistancies in christianity for it too be correct. The best conclusion that any religious/non-religious person could draw is that we simply do not know anything. The difference (or arguement if you will) between theists and non-theists is regarding proof. An atheist believes that there is no god because there is absolutely no proof whatsoever to support belief in one, while theists claim faith and disregard logical arguements that counteract their beliefs. The truest and most important thing to remember is that people will always beleive what they want to believe so be sure to keep conversation civil. While I personally strongly disbelieve in a "god" I do realize that there is no way that I can know for sure... but I work off the principle that, to believe in a god requires evidence... not the other way around (the old "you can't disprove god" arguement is counterintuitive to me).

Well, when they asked Jesus what was the greatest commandments, he said to a) love God and b)love your neighbor. Those are what matter. And I think that's pretty timeless.
Personally, I have no problem with women in authority. I approve it wholeheartedly. I think there are parts of the bible that are absolutely timeless and some that are snapshots of time and culture they were written in. Every Christian has to decide for themselves, after reading the bible, what they consider to be important to follow and what is not (not to say the decision they make is right or wrong, it's not up to me to judge a person's relationship with God, I just know the road I've tried to take).

No a sin is always sin. Being modern just does not make it acceptable. The most important thing for one to do is accept the love of God for sending to Jesus die for your sins and ask him to make you one of his children. Read the Bible if you have it or get one and read. There are many things that are new now but sin is old as is jealousy, hate, coveting anothers, and putting things ahead of God. If you look you will find these answers all in the Bible. Good luck and may God bless you.

No!, it doesn't Your conscience is your guide, lot lived in a place like what you just described but the Lord sent an angel to remove him and his loved ones before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, Lord, how many times must I forgive my brother in 1 day seven times? No, Jesus said, seventy times seven in one day =490 do you sin against the Lord 490 times a day? even if you did, He'd forgive you that much and beyond. Read your bible, and obey it, and be the light of the world.

No the book does not change over time. Murder is commonplace as is pornography, theft, lying, molestation, and so many more! Certainly these are not any less sinful because they are commonplace. Of course I ask for forgiveness for any transgression against God I catch myself in. I happen to be a home keeper but once was in a position with authority in the work force...that is not a sin. Having authority over men in spiritual matters is not the same as being someone’s boss.... Now I am working to build up my home, learning to live on one income...making the sacrifices and adjustments necessary, while trying to have and/or adopt a baby. I am choosing to follow the biblical model for a wife as home keeper because I want to give my children (and husband) the benefit of a mother at home. I can tell you that my entire relationship with my husband has changed wonderfully with my new submission (not a doormat!!!) I have a boundless freedom that I didn't have before. He actually consults me more and cherishes me as I appreciate him more. He is emulating Christ’s love towards me as much as I am being a helper for him in ways we could not have done when I was working those long hours outside of the home. It is my choice and I see it working so beautifully but I have friends who choose differently...and have very different lives with their husbands than me. The biblical model for woman and men has so many advantages that we, in our society just do not recognize anymore and I could fill volumes! Together my husband and I are working to make Gods vision for our family a reality and the rewards thus far have been nonstop. Submission is not being a doormat but rather submitting to Gods will…the man must also submit to Christ’s will for him. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. Ephesians 5:27-29
Edit:”I do not understand the rules, the contradictions, that you can commit all these sins as long as you ask for forgiveness.”
If your child breaks a rule you set like staying out 3 hours past curfew and you were worried about them and they came home with an attitude, quick sorry under the breath and promising to not be late again, would you believe the apology? What if they came home, heard you out on why you were so upset…actually realized what they did was wrong and apologized with sincerity promising to never do it again, would your response be different? Now imagine the first kid, would you be surprised if they came home late again, this time drunk and laughing in your face? I call that first kid the lukewarm Christian…happy in the sin and not really a Christian. That child would be in conflict with their parents and probably get punished a lot for disobedience! Now the second kid really wants to please mom and dad so they do all in their power to be on time. The thought of mom up worried about them shames them…they do not want to disappoint the parents they love so much. This is a child that will not be in conflict with their parents and the parent will see the hard work and dedication to the house rules. If this child is out and realizes they are running behind by even a minute they call and apologize and tell dad they are fast on the way home We have Gods word to know what the house rules are (no they do not contradict….just like you would tell your 3 year old different rules than your 16 year old and there would some house rules for all to follow. There are rules for specific people at specific times and rules for all at all times). It is up to us to decide to be the child of God that strives for perfection even though we may stumble from time to time or the rebellious child that puts no effort into it at all.

Nobody follows all that is in the Bible. Nobody. It's not possible because it contradicts itself and it also commands plenty of things that are impractical like bringing priests round to look at furniture or buildings and then destroying them if they say so. Killing and sacrificing animals. Not sitting of furniture if you are *unclean* ie menstruating or after having a nocturnal emission. Not working on Sundays, or killing disobedient kids. And that's just a few for starters. If you started trying to live your life by the Bible you would be in prison or the mental hospital in no time.

You are so ignorant of the Bible. Look at it and study it carefully and ask for understanding. What is the point of reading it and become more confused. Look at the two question you ask, if not for those additional, I would have believe you to be innocent and wanted knowledge. But you reveal the truth of yourself. If the Good Book makes you more confuse and hatred then you are out of grace from God. You do not want answer for knowledge but to ridiculed God and His Children. What man would want to bring another man God down? Answer it yourself! Sin is never a decision of man but God that stated it. That we may know that we should have nothing to do with it.
You should know better than to ridicule God's Holy Book.
Edit : Thanks for making it clear. Sorry, I've judge you.
