I answer questions on the mental health category...and I hesitate to suggest that their voices might be spirits (but sometimes I do) Just don't want to lead anyone astray. I always tell them to go to their family dr. too about it. You know psychiatrist don't believe about spirits. How would you advise them?

it would depend. Most medical cases talk back to their voices. they are carrying on a conversation with themselves. But people who hear spirit voices usually dont talk back to them. After all, you wouldnt want to ecourage a spirit. You would ignore them as much as you can.

Well it depends on how real the voices are. If they are kind of like "imagined", like the same way your internal monologue sounds (but of course with a different voice), then you may just be an eccentric or confused person and you are hearing your own thoughts just with someone else's voice. That is more common than it sounds though. A lot of people occasionally think things in the voice of a person they know who usually says that, or something along those lines.

But if you're actually hearing them, then it's hallucinations and you should probably be taking some antipsychotics. I know the last thing anybody wants to think is that there is something wrong with their head, but tell them not to worry, there is something wrong with everyone's head. It's just that some people hear voices and some people are assholes.

Since there is absolutely no scientific evidence for spirits let alone that spirits can talk to us, then advising a potentially mentally ill person that they are hearing spirits is highly irresponsible. You may be setting them up to do something very unfortunate to themselves or to others simply because they think they should obey the spirit voices they think they are hearing.

Beyond wishful thinking there is no reason to think spirits exist, much less talk to people. If someone believes spirits are talking to them it is far more reasonable to believe that the person is experiencing a mental or neurological malady than it is to think they are the receiver of supernatural messages.

If you wish to cure someone of any kind of illness it's always best to stick with reality. While it is most kind of you to offer your sympathy, it is extremely irresponsible to give them advice that hinges on supernatural modality.

I don't think that anyone really knows for sure. You have to know the total of combined behavior.
However, There is a h igh incidence of "Psychic Phenomenon" amongst people that are bi-polar or manic depressives. I also always mention that....
What are the voices saying is another important question when answering someone that is experiencing claire-audience.

Well if they don't seem crazy I tell them is not that uncommon. But you will find that they have other paranormal abilities too. For me it's not that weird my family is full of psychics, astrologers, witches and the like. If they are the real thing I just tell them to get used to it. It won't go away. Some people it does drive crazy if they don't learn to live with it.

Any more questions? I drank to muck coffee today. I'll be up for awhile!

Ask them to wear industrial ear plugs or mufflers.

I guess it would depend on what the voices are saying. If they are premonitory then I would suggest going to a psychic for clarification....if the neighbors dog is talking to them.....go see a shrink.
