I have often wondered what good could possibly come from that other than making the person they are telling that to feel like a complete looser.

Several years ago I lost a nephew to SIDS at 6 Months. Shortly after his death, my Sister-in-laws parents received a letter from a fundie who had seen the obituary. The letter basically said that since the child died before he was baptized and since his family was LDS that he went to hell. I have always wondered what good they thought could come out of sending a grieving family a letter that said that their baby was rotting in hell and there was nothing they could do to change that. My brother and sister-in-law did not learn of the letter until years later. Her parents purposefully waited to tell her about it until they knew she could deal with it.

I just don't understand why someone would do that. I mean someone may think that my beliefs are wrong- I probably think the same about theirs, there is no reason for them to say things like that to me.

Reminds me of a joke:

A man dies and goes to heaven, St Peter is showing him around. The catholics are in their portion of heaven and having a good time, the mormons are over on another section having a potluck arguing over who made the best lime jello salad, etc. Then they came to this one area what had a high wall of shrubbery and St Peter put his finger to his lips to signal to the man to be silent. He could hear all kinds of shouting - like those fundie preachers from the pulpit do. After they left that area, the man asked St Peter what that was all about. St Peter replied: OH that is the fundie part of Heaven, they think they are the only ones up here and we endulge that thought by being quiet around them.

Telling God at the same time as i'm satisfied, happy, unhappy or down though He already knows it. helps me to experience more desirable because then i understand he's listening, rejoicing with me or taking away the unhappy or down thoughts. often times He sends a chum my way such as his love and encouragement.

I just mostly shake my head and drive on. Most of their arguments are circular and make no sense whatsoever. They have no interest in actually converting or conversing, just in ranting and it's kind of like listening to the Swedish Chef from The Muppet Show.

Christians that condemn anyone to hell are sociopaths. IF they truly believe hell will be my reality after I die and hope for my eternal torture that speaks volumes about them, not me.
I don't feel sorry for them, I feel sorry for those around them.

Heck?
Ok I know what you meen, it is hard to not judge people, even if we follow Jesus, I have had to look at my own life many times.
But we can judge those in the Church, which is why I wont have anything to do with a Church that welcomes homosexuals (unless they repent).

Read the part about helping your brother take the speck out of his eye; that is referring to removing the beam out of your eye by learning true doctrine and teaching it to your brother once you have learned it and helping him remove the speck from his eye.

I feel sorry for the Jehovah's Witness kids the most. They are told that they will watch their friends and family that don't believe, die a horrible death. Can you imagine the impact that would have psychologically? All religions try to scare people into believing their religion. It's mental abuse, if you ask me. If they want to believe in a hell, know that they are the ones scared, not us non-believers. WE know that there is no such thing.
