Are you giving to a charity this Season?

Question

I found a place in Salt Lake City that will send toys to girls and boys in Iraq.

We usually give a donation to a local charity, but this year we have a special reason for wanting to give to children in different countries who could use some joy and fun, for a change. Babies, small children, teens. They all need a little love.

i donate $50 to St. Jude every month, but in december i donate a larger amount. i feel really good about the opportunity they provide to children battling cancer.

It is easy to write a check or box up a few gifts if you have the money.

However, I encourage people to get out and be actively involved in volunteering this holiday season. Go out to a children's home or a woman and children's shelter and throw a party, cook meals, read books, do something!

There's nothing wrong with writing a check from the comfort of your home, but if you want to give the best gift ever...give your time!

Everybody throws their money around during the holidays, I try to give my time and sometimes money throughout the year. I also try to work locally; you know, clean up my own back yard before I worry about the people down the street. On the other hand, considering how much havoc our government's activities are wreaking over there, maybe THAT's our back yard right now too?
