Because...because...wait a minute, it's coming to me...because there is no God? Did I win?

Actually, the world is in confusion because it believes that there is no God or God is not that powerful to manage us. It will make sense if you try to uderstand that God is holy and merciful, and that man is sinful and rebellious, and the world is in this mess becasue of our sinful ways. It makes more sense if we believe that if we repent and walk alonog the purpose of God, all things would go right. This goes with "christians" also.

It's not that the world makes more sense because you deny the existence of God, it just gives you the excuse to think of yourself first and foremost without guilt or shame. So it feels better, until something happens that makes you wish there was a God.

Where does it say the world is supposed to make sense - do we expect an apple to make sense? What is the difference, besides size between the apple and the world?
Of course, God is one answer to other questions like: Why did my friends die when the bridge collapsed and I did not?
I am not sure "**** Happens" makes any more sense than God or Random.

With all the Christianities, Islam, Judaism, etc. around here. I believe that no one religion is the answer. People who say otherwise are brainwashed. It's a mixture of everything, including religion main opponent: science. There is a higher power because I've personally witnessed the supernatural. However, the world will make sense once you get past the cliche of "the one and only answer". It's human ignorance to believe that one belief, whether it be in Mohammad or atheist, is the sole answer. It's a tangled web of paradoxes.

I actually think it makes far more sense when I realize THERE IS A GOD.

Think about this...

In Genesis, in the beginning, we were naked...and didn't know it, like animals dont.
After we betrayed God and received "knowledge"...we knew nakedness.
Is that not what separates us from the animals....our knowledge?
God says he made us from the dust of the earth.
And if let to root where we lay...what do we return to?
Dust.
God also states that we will "suffer in the flesh".
When we smoke or drink ourselves silly everyday of our lives...what happens?
We suffer in the flesh by getting lung cancer or sclerosis of the liver.
When we sleep around carelessly....what happens to some of us?
We get a horrible std of some sort.

The bible also says that God doesn't have to destroy us...we will destroy ourselves.
What do you think Global Warming is?
Nuclear war?
Hate Crimes?

Its all quite simple to understand.

It just scares you so...you deny it.
Also quite understandable.

Well I think you start realizing lots of things when you stop believing in god, such as... That's Air filling my lungs not God, They may both be Invisible but only one is imaginary! Also you realize maybe I have an appendix because my ancestors used to eat grass, not because I think I have an appendix because god wanted me to live if I was ever trapped in a field! etc. etc.

I can't imagine how you came to that conclusion! Believing in God is the only way TO make sense of this world.

I never thought there was a god, thank god; I've always been an atheist.
It's always seemed the way it is - win some; lose some.
Good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people.
Prayers have never worked but talking to yourself can and does ... as long as you know what it is you are doing.

[edit]
A universe with a god would be completely different to one without.

I would say someting to convince you that there is a GOD, but it wouldn't help. So I will just congratulate you on being able to figure out the world and wish you the best of luck in life.

Yes, the world is much more intelligible without a "personal lord and savior." In fact, it might be argued that the monotheistic fables are responsible for keeping people blind, deaf, and mute.
