Good question! If an Intelligent Designer had designed the penis, and it wasn't healthy to have a foreskin, it wouldn't have one.

People who worship a killer God often don't have a problem with mutilating babies' genitals for him. I personally consider it child sexual abuse.

Millions of men all over the world have remained intact, and have no problems with disease or dysfunction. Meanwhile, millions of circumcised men in the US need Viagra by the carload. Coincidence? I think not.

Circumcision has nothing to do with hygiene or improvement of design. It was simply a covenant sign between Old Testament Israel and God - an outward physical sign that showed they were different from the rest of the nations. Since we adopted the Judean-Christian theology, we inherited the practice.

God commanded a select group of people to do so, many years after He'd designed the human dna.

One of the first questions the early Jewish Christian church had to deal with, was, should non Jews wishing to follow the teachings of Jesus (a Jew) become Jews first (ie circumcision). The apostle Paul (a Jew), wrote that it wasn't necessary.

Hence, though I was circumcised, my son isn't - due to Paul's writing.

your question being an attempt to imply that intelligent design didnt design intelligently?

God never indicated that a mistake was made in any physical aspect of males.

the apostle Paul in particular preached that circumcision is not religiously necessary.

as far as i know, nowdays circumcising is usually done by the urging of the doctor, for hygeine reasons.
take your objections to them.

I didn't - I find circumcision of girls to be barbaric.

But then I also don't believe in intelligent design as a fact.

I don't believe in "intelligent design" in the sense that a detailed set of design specifications existed for each species before each species appeared. It is quite obvious to me that life on this planet progressed from rudimentary to increasingly complex forms. Having said that, I ask you to consider this: human consciousness, being, and intelligence arise from the matter of which we consist. Hence, matter is not merely mechanical, but has mystical properties, suggesting that the existence of the universe involves a higher Being.

Great question. We probably have a similar answer.

However, the people equating cutting hair and bathing to chopping off part of someones penis need some education.

Scary!

LOL! I LOVE IT! ^5. If ppl answer hygeine they are contradicting themselves. I guess God made a mistake on that one, oops. Not too intelligent.

How funny, ppl just aren't getting it. It does not matter what the bible or Paul say, God supposedly made you in his image, perfection. Why are you messing with Gods perfection, his "intelligent design"? By circumcising your children you are saying God made a mistake in the design of male genitalia, God screwed up basic hygeine & God supposedly cannot make mistakes. So what is it, did God screw up or did you?

Good point.
If hygiene is that big of an issue, then there's no logical way to say that the design is very intelligent.

Indeed, what would Jesus do? Would he support Fundamentalist extremism or would he spread love and forgiveness? Would he dump on homosexuals, or would he fight for their rights as human beings? Would he picket abortion clinics, or would he comfort a woman in need of such a procedure? Would he be complaining about alcohol or would he be drinking it with his friends?
