How can you believe in god?

what makes you think that?? i mean...
if there was a god why is this world crap today..? people getting kidnapped raped murdered abused and etc...
Dont tell me that its because they sinned or whatever because if your so called god was so nice to kill himself to save us then why would he kill so many people for nothing you would think he would forgive instead so why...do you believe in him???

I truly don't think you are asking this for help in finding God, but rather trying to bash Christians for their beliefs.

However, let me tell you that there is evil and there is good. God cannot be blamed for evil, the absence of God in these people's lives does. Now I'm sure your next question is, what about innocent children and people who are innocent.

We Christians don't always have ALL the answers and I cannot answer EVERY bible or world issue question for you. All anyone can do is tell you what having a personal relationship with Christ has done for ME.

To properly address the Problem of Evil, one must consider the nature of God, the nature of man, the nature of love, and the nature of evil.

According to the Bible, man possesses the attribute of freewill, for "…they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighted in their abominations… but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not" (Isaiah 66:3,4). Evil is described as sin, which is anything contrary to a God of Love and His Divine Law. "Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness and sin is lawlessness" (I John 3:4). The Law is to "… love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it, you shall love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:37-39). "You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not bear false witness, you shall not covet, and if there is any other commandment, all is summed up in this saying, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' Love does not do harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the Law" (Romans 13:9,10).

OK, the world is not "crap." It's not perfect, but it isn't crap either.
Ok people get kidnapped and raped because whether you like it or not...Adam and Eve sinned...which let evil into the once perfect world we live in. Never in the Bible did God say the Earth is is all Daisy's and Butterflies...it even predicts in the Bible that their will be wicked beings. Have you ever studied ancient history? Before Jesus sacrificed himself, people were sacrificing lambs and other pure animals, and geuss what? People still got killed for nothing! It all boils down to sin being let into the world...if Eve hadn't of ate the apple...noone would have to be sacrificed...noone would have to die for "nothing." But why would God forgive someone who told people he wasn't real, defied his name, and cursed him to others? God is only so kind, and when you take advantage of that he can only be so forgiving. People die because that is the way the ball rolls.

And What on earth makes you think a Christians life is a bed of roses? haha...pass the pineapple juice please...how about a steak to go with that. Give me a break.

I just hope you will find God at some point in your life and he will take mercy on your soul.

There's God. God created mankind. It's not the God to stop all mystery in human beings. God has given human beings brain to think. You think God is like a policeman, or your father or your teacher that can be contacted and ask to do Job. By the way, what is in your mind the word God. Do you really know what is a God. I can see every now and then blaming God for anything happen to people in the Yahoo Answer. My thinking is that, maybe a few person thought that God is just like a policeman. The Mayor of a city is bigger than God. So many person start blaming God to anything happen. People take for granted that God is a fiction such as superman in the film. God is superman and help peoples. If not, God is no good and God doesn't exist.

OMG! This question comes up almost daily! The disaster of the world is the result of our own sin...some believe that the world is becoming "overpopulated" and God is trying to resolve that problem...not me, but some...my friend, if u don't look into the sky and thank and praise God that that did not happen to you and truely appreciate what u have been given, u will live a bitter life, hating the world...it's truely sad what happens in the world, but Satan is powerful...he has control over the world until the second coming, the last battle, if u will...i believe that this world is a test...a test to see how much faith, patience, love, and understanding u have...i hope i helped:)... probably didn't because my answer is soo choppy.LOL.

People believe in God for many different reasons. Many answer your question by saying that God does not create the chaos and negative things that you described and suffers with people. Some find strength in the Bible stories which describe horrible suffering from which God relieves people. For example, the Jews were slaves in Egypt for 400 years. That is many generations of people not experiencing any positive God. But God did free them and it's that which people focus on. I'm not saying these are my beliefs I'm just tell you what many people (not all) beleive, and how they have faith when there is so much suffering. Similarly, as someone above mentioned, free will is what causes murder, rape, etc. and it is the price humanity pays for free will. God doesn't hold puppet strings and some people are dangerous, bad people. But people have faith that in the end, the good will prevail because of God.

How can you not believe in God?

We have free will and look how we use it, not just this life, but especially in out past lives. The murderer will be the murdered in some life and the murdered will murder the murderee in another UNTIL we can evolve past our soul ignorance and ego.

Mantras, meditation, kriya yoga, selfless service, penance of eating right, celibacy (or moderation in sex life, etc) are all other ways to help balance/burn karma...but is important to do with faith and devotion. If you don't have, at your lowest point, most cry out to a higher power, most will feel a peace come, a burden start to lighten, things said or done or brought there way to help life the delusion of this dream world we live in.

*We watch a movie and though can be moved, we remember it is just a movie...so to will we realize that with this life, that all we have, is full of thorns, ups and downs, the minority will start to go within, the restless will become still with persistence...until then, we will be like a wave tossed up and down in this ocean thanks to the duality that makes us be able to feel the unreal as real.

If parent are so great, then why do their children get into fights?

If the police are so great, why do people speed and kill each other?

You can't blame a parent or authority for what happens when people are free to choose for themselves what they shall do.

Then again, I'm not a Christian; I simply believe that people who can choose to do evil things will sometimes do so, thereby negating any good intentions of some authority figure.

Personally, I'm a Pagan, but it still comes down to a person's ability to choose to do good or ill, and no God who might offer free will could do so and still prevent all ill. If we were only permitted to choose that which was right, would we really have any choices?

The people who commit those acts do so because they allow satan to get into their minds and take over their lives.

I believe in God because he gives us so many good things, and he gives the people who commit those crimes a second chance if they just ask him to forgive their sins, and mean it.

The world is so bad now becuase people like you are turning away from God and just letting no one or the devil run their lives. I garuntee if more people went to church, things wouldn't be like they are now. Think about it. Back when everyone did nothing but go to church and read the Bible on Sundays, was there really anything horrible happening? It was only when people let other things such as work, money, their own wants take over and they pulled away from God that things got bad.

Don't get me wrong, I am in no way perfect. I don't go to church as often as I should and I don't read my Bible everyday, but that's between me and God and I want to work on that.

Me just believe human being. Everybody can become "GOD". But it is hard and impossible...for now a day. We will get the punishment what we do is bad. All the children do not know what is religion & race...there need love & caring from others. The parent should take this responbility to their children if you choose to have a family. So, mom & dad should pay more attention to their children. Share whatever the children need and caring is important. I hope the children have a healthy family in this would and create more colourful & joy......
