deciding that the survivors of Hurr Katrina, who by the way have not received the 2nd grant disbursment (it's been over 2 years!) and now we are told that too much money was allocated for the MS Gulf Coast and not enough for LA.

I understand more people know N.O. rather thank Biloxi, MS but the eye of the storm went through Waveland MS and Slidel LA, I was told by the NTL guard that for all practical purposes, the city of Waveland. MS is gone.
Now, we love N.O. and that's not an issue, The point is that it was a day after the storn that they levy's broke. The Army Corps of eng had been telling them they wouldn't hold since the 70's, the city and state gvmt took a big gamble and lost,
Don't you think that MS, where people are still, like N.O. living in FEMA trailors or half finished houses should be allowed the $ allocated to them through the generosity of other's and through the government?

Love N.O. don't get me wrong in fct i'm wearing my purple, gold, green mardi gras shirt

Sorry I am an AMERICAN!! AND the 'SOUTH" has their heads out of their a****, we had thousands of church groups come and they are still coming and helping for FREE!!!!!!!!!! My neighbors and other's in the community advertize for good they don't need like dishwashers, flooring, tile, air conditioners, furniture and clothes and expect no payment. Down here we help each other out, b/c that is the way that we ARE!
I was only saying if the dang money has been allocated, where in the bloody he** is it? Did they give it to California????
BTW, just to get your facts straight, as of the 10 PM news we were told by the news station is was going to go WEST of New Orleans, I woke up Sunday and it turned North, not continuing WEST, which put us directly in the path, some of us did leave, however no one and I mean no one said it would be of this magnitude. We went through Camille in 69 with winds of up to 225 an hours, this was 165, had no idea, not even the weather man. Know it all

yes i believe that the people should have gotten the money allocated for sure.

there where huge amounts of money sent and a there was a lot of fraud involved from all people .

have all the questions been answered re: the N.O mayor ?

i saw an article in paper a month or so ago ? they gave a lot of figures about the amounts sent and the amounts that actually got to to the individual people . i can't recall details / exact figures but i think maybe 50 percent made it there ?

remember the cash emergency cards that were sent / so many were stolen. some of the people were buying jewelry with them at the wal mart . the cards were sent without restrictions for food / lodging / medical

many many people suffered and many many people got rich

honestly , i think , the people of N.O. must look forward and not backward . Nothing can be done about the money now . The society is corrupt .

you can't and shouldn't count on a government

Yeah, Waveland was practically wiped off of the face of the earth. That's what you get with 30+ foot storm surges and low lying swamp land, sadly. There are so many people there that stayed, and equally many that wished they hadn't.

I have no clue where the money is; Pass Christian Middle School and a portion of the district's elementary system is still in trailers, which is sad. They did have the groundbreaking for a new middle school yesterday or today, which is great!

I don't know where all these funds are going, though. Probably to pay for Dubya's ranch maintenance.

Yo "rich's gal"
It hasn't even been 30 minutes since I answered a question posted about the NEW 50 Billion dollar request by the current lunatics in charge for the insanity ongoing in IRAQ !!!

And, I told them that it is OUR people who should be getting the homes, schools, road, bridges etc etc --- rather than these fanatics that hate our eternal guts !! They can spend a Trillion dollars buying a few "happy faces" to promote their little tyraid in the middle east --- but give excuses and bureaucratic crap to our own people in need !! IT IS INSANITY RUN AMUCK !!!
I am convieniently situated here in North Texas -- away from the devestations of this disaster -- and, I feel the pain you people are going through --- and, am extremely hostile at a group of demigods that sit comfortably in their oak lined offices on capital hill --- going to their $ 1,000 a plate "fund raisers" while people like you are suffering for the lack of what should have been in your hands to work with well over a year ago !! We have a government that is completely out of hand -- and is no more truly responsible to the people than if we were some "street trash" that has to be abided !!! And, it makes me angry --- very angry to say the least !!!

The vast majority of Americans despise the current Bush regime. It's been nothing but a disaster for the last seven years. However, you'll never hear much of it because Bush controls the media. It's as close as a dictatorship as the USA has ever had.

The Gulf coast is still in ruins and the Bush regime doesn't care. Bush has other priorities, like fighting a fictional, nonexistent "war on terror" in Iraq and spending billions bombing women and children in the middle east.

Under Bush, the USA has been falling apart both economically and socially. Read George Orwell's book "1984"--that's exactly what is happening in the USA right now.

The USA is a great country, but the Bush government is just horrendous. People are fed up and sick of what Bush has done. We need change and we need it fast.

What? What are you blabbering about! It's so easy for you to sit on your duff and pass judgment as if the country you live in is perfect. Yes the government could have done more to help the catastrophe but the fact that N.O waited for something to happen and depending on the gov't to bail them out after the fact is just as bad. I'm from California and after the earthquake of 89, all of our key buildings and road structures were retrofitted at OUR expense!!!! If what your spewing is true, why didn't Louisiana take precautions and build up it's levy? See there's a thing that you as a foreigner may not understand. That precarious balance between state and federal authority. Now the states are famous for blaming the feds when it hits the fan but when the feds get too involved they start screaming "STATES RIGHTS!! STATES RIGHTS". The fact is that the south needs to get it's head out of it's *** and start taking care of itself before they drown in their own mess. And YOU need to stop making assumptions of an ENTIRE country based off of one natural disaster. By no means am i making light of this grave situation, I have friends and family from that area that have suffered. But the state could and should have done more to protect itself. The real tragedy is that everyone saw it coming and no one did anything about it. And as a result, thousands of people suffered. But trying to peg it all on the feds is just plain ignorant. But what's new with you outsiders thinking you know more about Americans than Americans themselves.

I'm from Louisiana; my life is back to normal. I didn't get any aid from the government. There are people in other parts of the world who are much worse off than the people of N.O. and I think the residents of N.O. should move on with their lives. Be thankful and grateful that they have what they have. Most of them had nothing before the hurricane, anyway. Many of those that did get some money, went straight to the gambling Casinos and lost their money in a short span of time. Now, can't we please get on with our lives and forget about hurricanes for awhile.
