"Yeshua bar Josef." (Translated to English, this name is "Joshua son of Joseph.") When the name Yeshua was translated into Greek, the initial “Y” became an “I,” and the letter "S" was added to the end, because in Greek only feminine names end in a vowel — thus rendering the name "Iesus." In the gothic script of the medieval period, the "I" became a "J," and the name became "Jesus." In combination with the Greek translation of the title “Messiah,” or “Christus,” this name takes on its best-known form: “Jesus Christ.”
Jesus has no middle name -- but he is sometimes referred to as “Jesus H. Christ.” What does the “H” stand for, and where does it come from? In the Episcopal Church, the altar cloths, priests’ vestments, and bishop’s chair, are frequently decorated with the first three letters of Jesus’ name in Greek: IOTA, ETA and SIGMA. These letters are sometimes represented as “I H C.”
Those who saw these letters and didn’t know Greek mistakenly began to think that the “I” stood for “Jesus,” and that the “C” stood for “Christ.” This left a mysterious middle initial: “H.”

He probably would have been known as Y'shua Bar Joseph. Jesus is the latinized form, and the Romans tended to refer to a person's birthplace--thus, Jesus of Nazareth. The use of surnames has a varied history world-wide and in some cultures a person might be known by many names during their lifetimes. Jesus' brothers were apparently referred to as brothers of Y'shua, rather than sons of Joseph or in the larger sense sons of David.

Yeshua Ben Yosef Edit: The name Jesus is a transliteration of the Greek Iēsous which is a transliteration of the Hebrew Yeshua. Yeshua (Jesus) ben (son of) Yosef (Joseph). In the eyes of the Jews Joseph was Jesus' father and therefore would be identified as such.

Well, during ancient times people did not have family names instead, they named people with a name and the place where that certain person was from, so since Jesus was from Nazareth, he was Jesus of Nazareth.
good luck.
