Well I know it's all supposed to be about taste and the fat and all that, but have you ever had milk from a cow off a farm? My aunt and uncle had a farm and we milked the cows and all the food was from the garden and it was some of the best meals I've ever had in my life, even the meat was from the cows. I remember we ate Betsy once at dinner.(the cow)Of course I was only about 14 yrs. old then, but I remember the food was really good.

I am by no means an authority on this subject, but it is my belief that the difference between "whole milk" (4-5% butterfat) and "2%" milk or "skim" (1%) milk is the fat content only. If you were lactose intolerant, I believe all milks would cause the same reaction, because removing the fat from the milk does not affect the lactose. Lactose-free milk is not the same as skim milk. So - does butter affect you? If so, you have issues around butter fat. Sorry - this is my best guess.

whole milk is already very watered down compared to real milk. if you want good milk. see if you can find a dairy farm that will sale you milk straight out of the holding tank. if you get some, you need to shake the milk jug every time you go to pour it, to mix the cream into it. nothing you buy in the store will taste close to it.

Here is a link to your questions. It gives all the information about nutrition facts / differences in all milk varieties... except of course taste... That really is personal choice.

Whole milk is 4% fat, 2% milk is 2% fat, 1% milk is 1% fat, and non-fat has 0 fat. So 2% milk should be more accurately described as 50% milk.
I grew up in dairy country and anything but whole milk tastes too watery to me.

Whole milk has a thicker, fuller, creamier taste. 2% slightly less so. Skim is much thinner and doesn't leave a fatty aftertaste in your mouth (or residue on your glass). I prefer skim, myself, taste-wise.

3.25 - 2 = 1.25 % difference. Whole is thicker. Good if you're an underweight male looking to mix with protein powder to bulk up.
