I was. Someone at a drive through copied my credit card number and tried to buy a lot of stuff on the net. Thankfully they went way overboard and my bank caught it very quickly. Mostly it was just a pain filling out forms and the police report but it didn't hurt me in any long term way, at least not yet.

I work for a credit union and I see many of our members fall victim to identity theft as well as foreign money order scams. As much as people think that the internet, specifically wireless, is the root of identity theft....really the number one cause of it is trash. People throw away their banking info, bills, credit card apps, etc without shredding them. Anyone can dig in your trash. Be safe - shred.

Yes, I know two people that where victims of identity theft. One man, they ran up over $24,000 dollars worth of Bills and it has teken him years to get his credit straight. Another couple we know have been taken for $13,000, and are also having a heck of a time getting it straight.

No.. I think that this is just a scam that the credit card companies run to make you pay extra charges for "protection" programs. But I love those Citibank commericials, so I don't complain.

Yes and it happend to her twice. It was a bloody mess for her to deal with. I am sure someone is using mine and I just don't know about it.

Yes i do. a couple people, actually. it was ugly for them. she encountered so many legal difficulties. still to this day, but not as often.
