And you are up and alone, do you start hearing odd noises?

2007-10-10 16:42:57 · 45 answers · asked by Anonymous in Entertainment & Music Polls & Surveys

I live in an old house. Somewhere around 100 years old. Yeah, yeah, not the oldest, but it's still noisy. Walking on the floor makes creaking noises, and then the doors and windows all have issues. But the noises I start to hear almost sound human, like tiny noises. Sometimes muffled. Sometimes I even think I hear someone coming up the stairs, like the continuous stepping, getting louder and louder.

No, but I start to realize just how lonely I really am.

Sure, it's real quiet. During the day there's tons of radio and microwaves zipping around and you hear cars and stuff that you don't hear at night. Houses noise that creak or shift during the day can be heard. Could be that guy n the white mask, but I doubt it. Take care. Very logical.

Yes I do, along with voices...

AND I saw some of your other answers. People make light of this...
They think it's a joke I guess.

I have lived through 4 very serious skull fractures that resulted in concussions-head injuries. I have had to learn to cope with paranoia and psychosis and being a sociopath.

Every body thinks it's SOOOOOOOOOOO funny!

I'm here to tell you it isn't!

I have nightmares, so I don't sleep well...
When the police come around asking questions I get really nervous because they're all packing heat. I was a soldier once. I carried a weapon. There's a huge responsibility that comes with it. Most policemen understand the nature of head injury survivors and make a very earnest effort to communicate with us that they respect our experiences and that they have no intentions of doing us any harm.
Then there are places like this...
I can't lash out and let you know how much it hurts me to talk about the voices and strange noises I hear and I can't communicate to you how much it hurts me that people make light of it.
Do any of you who answer questions like this and make light of it like it is some kind of joke know any veterans?
I'm not trying to go on the attack and belittle the person who asked this question. I'm trying very hard to make a connection with all of you out in cyber-space that what others read in your answers may seem disrespectful and hurtful at times.

I give the asker of the question the benefit of the doubt, they were asking a question.

I'll give the rest of you who make a joke out of this the benefit of ignorance.

Good question.

and I hope that if you are going through this that you have someone close to you to talk to. Sometimes, our imagination gets carried away with itself.

Sometimes, we just can't help it.

Good luck

star for you

Sorry all, I've seen other questions like this and have not seen so much honesty and candor before now. There are many of you who have given very good answers and I was only venting a bit of my experiences with intolerance in my own life. Many thanks to everyone for being supportive. I just hope my answer makes some smart-aleck think twice before making a cruel joke of this question.

It depends on if I'm paranoid or not. Sometimes if you think you are going to hear something your brain tricks you into hearing things. You're mind is a powerful thing. If you get paranoid and you think you are hearing things, the best thing to do is sit down light some candles, take in some deeps breaths ( about 10) and count. You have to tell yourself that nothing is there and its all in your head. It all really is.

All the time, and one time this toy in my sons room started to play. it was on of those toys to had to hit ,( a touch toy) to get it to work and another time the t.v in my living room tunred on by itself.
I also watch ghost stories on t.v if i am awake.
ghostly encounters and a haunting are the best because they are based on real stories and have the people it happened to telling it!! I like it!!!!

It's quieter at night, so you hear noises that are always there, but masked by the louder noises during the day. Since you don't hear them during the day, they sound odd at night.

Well sometimes. I will hear like the walls creek. And I hear weird things outside. But I just ignore it because if I put my concentration towards it I start thinking about all of the bad things it could be.

Yes. Always. Of course, sounds carry better at night; houses settle, creating various sounds. Then there is the weather, principally the wind...
And perhaps a ghost or two!

All the time. That's why my TV is always on. Not only does it drown out anything i might hear or think i hear - it also makes me feel safer because i think if someone was outside they would hear the voices and think more than one person was home. LOL yes i am paranoid.
