do you just forget about all your sins after you've prayed and/or confessed?
thinking that somehow your sins will be forgiven and you can very well just get away with all of them since you already asked forgiveness?

It's impossible to forget your worst sins..You repent of them , which means you turn away from them, you ask forgiveness,and you pray..not forgetting to thank God for atonement..And you can remember that when you are forgiven, your sins are as far away from you as the East is from the West...But you don't tempt God by doing them all over again...

There is more to it than just praying and confessing...see you must first believe that Jesus is the Son of God, born unto a virgin, died on the cross for humanities sins and then rose again from the dead three days later. Then you ASK God to forgive and confess your sins. Once you have done this then God will FORGIVE & FORGET your sins...giving you a clean slate. But we are human...all though God has forgiven our sins we still remeber them. Not only do we remeber them but so does the devil...which he uses them to try his hardest to brings us down and tries to get us to stumble over those same sins. Once you are forgiven then you will need the Holy Ghost to give you strength to stand agianst those sins that you have been forgiven of.

You can NOT atone ( make amends) for your sins. If you truly ask God to forgive you ( you have to really mean it) then you turn away from them ( sins) and do not do it any more...Your sins have already been atoned for...that's why Jesus died on the cross...HE took your punishment. So you did not get away with it...He suffered for what you ( and I ) have done and will do . HE did that because HE loves you so much...now go do the best you can ...you will not be perfect...He knows that...so when you do mess up ask him to forgive you ...and continue on doing your best ...and above all LOVE HIM.........WHO GAVE HIS LIFE FOR YOU.

You, yourself, cannot atone for your own sins.
Only Jesus Christ can do that and after you have accepted his atoning death for the forgiveness of sin your will hate your own sin from then on because it is what sent Him to the cross in the first place. A true Christian loves Christ and when you love someone you don't want to hurt them.

The concept of sin is not really a part of my religion; it is based on the idea of an offense against God. In my religion, when we do wrong, it is an offense against ourselves or another. We don't have arbitrary laws saying that a thing is abhorrent to a deity.

Rather, that which injures or hurts ourselves or another is a thing that must be atoned for; either in this life or some future one. We can choose to do anything, but we must be willing to suffer the consequences, either good, bad or neither. This system truly gives us cause to think before we act. We do not refrain from doing something that might make us look good for fear of the sin of pride, but we do not do things for prideful reasons. Our view of humility is to "take stock of our strengths and weaknesses, and to cultivate the former and transform the latter. "(I don't recall the original author's name for this quote.)

We all have (contrary to religions that tell us we are worthless, and that all we have is really not ours, but some god's) great gifts to offer each other. It is not sinful to recognize this.

Greater crimes need to be dealt with more harshly. Murder, Rape, assault and such are grave crimes and need to be punished and dealt with. That is why we have a legal system. It's not something that one should ever be permitted to forget.

As sins are man/religion/priests made,
the best way to atone is to convert to another religion in which the particular sin one committed is not considered sin - by the religion/priests/the society one lives in.

Please do not involve god into the creations of religions.
God created creation;
Human beings created religions and laws;
Religions and laws created sins and merits!

Prayer closet?....So Jesus basically visited the synagogue to look on the decorations? The life of Jesus isn't constrained to the Bible on my own. ALL Catholics pray to God on my own interior the experience that God on my own is worshiped. Why cant you comprehend that we Catholics are comparable to you...a Christian? Do you have a family individuals member that has exceeded on? Do you communicate with them even nonetheless you haven't any longer have been given any theory no rely if or no longer they're in Heaven, Hell or Purgatory? Do you ask them to look out for you. greater especially do you worship them once you think of and refer to them? nicely, neither can we Catholics worship Mary, the Saints or the Pope for that rely.

Atheists don't sin. It's solely a Biblical concept, which obviously only applies to Jews and Christians. Similarly, Hindu or Muslim principles wouldn't apply to them.

Atheists also don't believe in automatic forgiveness and don't have a devil to blame things on, so we typically don't do wrong things in the first place. It's a morals/principles thing. We wouldn't expect most religious people to understand.

As a Christian, we know that Scripture says Jesus is the atonement for our sins...he paid for them all.
However, you also need the power of the Holy Spirit to keep you from sinning...and to cleanse you to walk a holy life.

"God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life". - (Jn. 3:16)
