"Now when evening came David arose from his bed and walked around on the roof of the king's house, and from the roof he saw a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful in appearance. So David sent and inquired about the woman. And one said, 'Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?' And David sent messengers and took her, and when she came to him, he lay with her; and when she had purified herself from her uncleanness, she returned to her house. And the woman conceived, and she sent and told David, and said, 'I am pregnant.'"
2 Samuel 11:1-5
This is outrageous. In it we find nudity, covetousness, forced sex and illegitimate pregnancy. No one in their right mind would expose their children to these disgusting activities, and yet we can find even more despicable sexual activity if we look a bit further.

The Bible is FULL of violent and immoral filth. God repeatedly COMMANDS his followers to kidnap, rape, hurt, and kill people.

God punished David for this sin. David's sin was seven fold.

1. David should have been on the battlefield with his army, instead of in Jerusalem.

2. David could have walked away when he saw beautiful Bathsheba bathing on the roof.

3. David ordered a private investigation to be conducted on her; he could have stopped here.

4. He had her brought to his palace. (He could have stopped here)

5. He had sex with her. (Not the only sin, and it was not forced, he was the king.)

6. He tried to cover up his crime by calling Uriah back from battle, so he could sleep with his wife, and if she conceived, David would have been off the hook. However, Uriah was a just and upright man and refused to accept special favors from the king while his men were on the battlefield.

7. David had Uriah killed. They sent him to the front of a heated battle and then withdrew...they set him up, and he was killed. (Therein lies the greatest sin)

For his actions, God took the innocent life of the baby born to David and Bathsheba. The Bible states in Romans 6:23 that "The wages of sin is death." In this example, it is very true: Uriah died, the baby died, and the joy that king David once had also died...he spends the rest of his days writing Psalms of forgiveness.

I am not going to debate you on the Bible...that is between you and God. However, I must tell you the rest of Romans 6:23. "But the Gift of God is Eternal LIfe, through Jesus Christ our Lord." David was a sinner, even though he was referred to a man after God's own heart...he sought forgiveness for his sin, and God pardoned him. God sent Jesus to die as a sacrafice to die for our sins, so we could be forgiven, be atoned, and reconciled with a loving and compassionate God. You may mock me, and you may mock God and try to prove His Word wrong...but my friend, when everything is said and done and my days are over on this earth, I would rather had lived my life in Christ and find out the Bible was wrong, than to have lived a godless existence without Christ and find out the Word of God was right.

Now, what say ye?

This is not the end of the story. David also had Uriah Bathsheba's husband killed to cover up his sin. This was also during a time of war when David should have been out in the battlefield instead of goofing off in the palace. This story shows how merciful God is, that he would forgive David even this, but David did not get off scott free. His son died because of this sin.

Would you find going to hell outrageous too? There is a way out. If you don't take it, it's your own fault.

God loves you no matter how you mock. It is easy to take a verse out of context or to cherry pick difficult sayings to justify you denial of Gods word. Ask youself if it is so bad and wrong and should be disregarded why are you here so adamantly speaking against it. Why not rail against Anton Leveys Satanic Bible which is truly evil, or against pornographers in magazines and on the internet. No I think you would defend them and their right to free speech and expression. It is only the Christians and the Bible reserved for this double standard.
God illustrates His plan of salvation by showing how mankind sinned, and some of the stories are forthright and lifelike.
We cannot leave them half told, and cherry pick the part we want to destroy Gods name. Through the prophet God told David he had sinned grieviously, and David repented.
David life was spared, and God told him that his son would die. He lay in grief and mourning until he heard that the child was stillborn. He got up from his bed and bathed and went about his business. He said that he would meet his dead son in heaven. David repented of his adultery, his murder of Uriah (Bathsheba's husband) God forgave him and further said David was a man after Gods own heart. He was not full of pride, rebelling against God, but humbled himself and asked forgiveness. There was a consequence for his sin and he had to pay the price for his sin, but he was forgiven and restored to God. You can be forgiven and restored to God. Just ask Christ to wash you from all sin, and live for God. If you do not do this you remain in your sin and rebellion, remaining a stranger to God.
Be like David repent and ask forgiveness. God Bless you.

Well, this isn't one of the stories included in children's Bible story books. Children aren't taught this. It is saved for later when a person is more mature. Just like rated R movies and "the birds and the bees" talk and such. It concerns me that you think the way you do.

The Bible isn't supposed to be a fairy tale, its supposed to show the corrupt nature of man.....real situations that happen to even the best of us. Even the best of us can screw up, we all need Jesus. The Bible isnt about teaching someone how to murder their friend and have an adulterous affair, its about being taught to trust and grow in Jesus, to become a little more each day like Him and a little less like US.

John 2:
24But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all men. 25He did not need man's testimony about man, for he knew what was in a man.

Jesus knew the corrupt nature in man and didn't apply the label to Himself because although He was a man, He had no sin. Jesus sacrificed Himself so we wouldnt have to live in our corrupt nature. You can take the Bible away from your kids but that doesn't change their heart. Jesus changes heart because He is the only one who can do a spiritual work of transformation and change our very nature. Christians who are real with themselves accepted God because they wanted to protect themselves from themselves. They knew they were corrupt, they knew no matter how hard they try they often make bad decisions, as Paul says,

"I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do."

Romans 7:15

I think you left out murder. Just let the children keep using the Internet, they will be saved from the Bible, but, not the sins it teach about.

Did you read the next part...where he is severely punished...
Plus I read this when I was like nine and trust me...we are a lot more pure of the mind back then...I didn't even know what it was talking about...notice..it doesn't say sex or nude anywhere...so unless a child knows what "lay with her means" (and if they do woh! where are the parents!) they won't understand it..plus...most children haven't read the whole Bible..only what they discuss in Sunday School...and this is not it..
