What is your first impression of someone when you find out they smoke? Are you neutral or prejudiced about them? Do you form judgements about their character? What if they are a good person, does it matter that they smoke?

I try not to judge others but it's hard, we're all human. I think I'm a bit disappointed if I find out that someone smokes, because I'm unfortunately very sensitive to smoke and it bothers me. Thus I would be upset that it might impact on whether or not I could spend time with them, and that would make me sad. And no, if they are a good person, it doesn't matter to me if they smoke, but I'll still encourage them to quit ;-)

I don't judge them or dislike them for being a smoker. I'm always disappointed to find out that people smoke though, because I wish people wouldn't do this to themselves and others.

What I do tend to judge them for is how considerate they are to others when they smoke. I respect considerate smokers, but I can't stand inconsiderate ones. They are disrespectful, so they won't get much respect from me in return.

I've never been a smoker, but it has never occurred to me to think of them in any different way than a non-smoker. Maybe this is just because I know so many smokers. But no, it does not matter if they smoke or not, that has nothing to do with their character.

My first impression is that they stink. I can usually smell it on them. I feel sorry for them and hope that they can find a way to quit. There are many wonderful people that smoke. Unfortunately it's a terrible habit. Very unhealthy.

I usually notice the smell first. It honestly makes me not want to be close to the person. I think more than anything I feel sorry for them, sorry that they are enslaved to tobacco and sorry that they could potentially get sick from it. I still think they're a good person. I work with a lot of very, very smart people, and I feel sorry that with all of their intelligence they haven't decided to quit smoking.

I stop hanging out with them, my husband is allergic and I can't afford to smell like that. It makes my husband seriously sick

The only thing I wonder is if they need an ashtray.
