Simple. He is he vine and we are the branches. We are grafted in. If you know anything about that process, you know that the branch cannot have life without the root. It is a continuing walk with Christ. Once someone is born again of the spirit, they do what all newborns do. Drink milk. This spiritual milk is the basic truths of God's Word. You are not ready for the meat - those deeper truths, until you can digest it and are beginning to walk instead of crawl. Do you think babies have a lot to do except grow and be cared for and nurtured? Until you are born again, spiritual things will seem foolishness to you. You don't try to walk before you learn to run. You don't try calculus before you have other simple math basics. May God lead and guide you into a walk with Him who is the way the truth and the life. The Holy Spirit of God will help you to know what you need to do to have eternal life if you will seek wisdom.

If a person said he/she was a Christian but then went out and didn't keep the 10 commandments, they would be lying to themselves. Jesus Himself instituted communion. That alone shows that it is important. Communion also shows what it took/takes to be earn our salvation and be forgiven. It took Jesus life, thus the shedding of his body and blood on the cross for our deliverance from the wadges of sin. Jesus Himself was also baptized. Again showing that baptism is important. Baptism shows a washing away of sin, renewal with and by, the Holy Spirit. People can get to Heaven without baptism and communion. But since they are important, and instituted by Jesus, why not do as directed?

By saying you must become like a child means you have to become innocent, which you become by accepting Jesus since he forgives you for your sins. If you don't obey his commandments, you really aren't accepting him are you? By accepting him, in a sense you become holy, and eating his body and drinking his blood is metaphorical and not practiced in all types of Christianity. Pretty simply really.

Its called realized eschatology. We are saved now, God gives us a state of righteousness but we have not been saved yet.
You received the "righteous" state, when you hear, believe, repent, confess, and be baptized. That is equal to becoming a child, we become a child of God. We obey and become holy and all the other stuff because our life purpose is to become more and more like a child of God.
Great question very good observation. If you have a response or more questions please feel free to email me.

~Please read~
Once you have accepted Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, you start spending time with Him in prayer and reading the Bible. If you dont understand a verse in the Bible, then read around it(the verses above and below it) to get a better understanding of what the Holy Spirit is trying to reveal to you. Jesus tells us to eat the bread as His body and drink the wine as His blood to remember Him always as The living sacrifice that He died in our place for our sins so that we would spend eternal life with Him in heaven. He who knew no sin, became sin for us(2nd Corithians 5:21). And for that we should always be thankful. Im sure when He said unless you become a child, you cannot enter heaven, i thought of it like this. Think of children how they are innocent~minded. The majority of the time they just accept what you tell them and ask no questions, they just trust. It's the same way when accepting Jesus into your heart and putting everything you worry about in His hands. Come to Him like a child, just as you are, with all your sins and past regrets, give it to Him and have faith that He will work things out for your good. You dont have to sit there and analysize His plan because you dont know His thoughts. His thoughts and His ways are higher than your thoughts and your way of doing things in this earthly realm(Isaiah 55:8-9). He tells us to believe because without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). Jesus tells us to obey His commandments because those where the same morals He lived by when He was on earth teaching His disciples. He would be a hypocrite if He didnt follow His own word because He says even His own word is above His own name(Psalm 138:2). Spend time in the word and feed on it just as how you need physical food to survive, you need God's word for your spirit to survive(lol because it needs to feed on something so it might as well be God's word) and studying it will give you that spiritual growth you need to become a mature christian in Christ but more so to know Him and not just to know about Him.

it quite is why the Catholic Church baptizes all of us including children. Baptism is what saves us (a million Pt 3:21) once you concentrate on that baptism confers right grace. it isn't purely an outward signal. someone who has not the psychological skill to comprehend is also saved by skill of baptism. The stain of unique sin is eradicated by skill of baptism. Your brother could likely not also be culpable for what he does thinking he has not the understanding to entice close what he's doing. yet, if he's baptized, unique sin is forgiven and he has saving grace operating in his existence. do not worry about that accepting Jesus as your man or woman Lord and Savior component such as your brother. it quite is an large component to do and all of us ought to do it. anybody ought to make a man or woman dedication to Christ. yet that practice of praying a prayer to easily accept Jesus as your man or woman Lord and Savior and then you're saved is actual not interior the bible and it did not commence to be practiced until eventually eventually the 18th century or so (Puritans). traditionally, Christians have continuously believed that baptism is the initiate of the Christian existence once you concentrate on that it truly is what the bible teaches (Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, a million Pt 3:21, John 3:5). BTW, I actual have a sister who's mentally handicapped, notwithstanding likely not as seriously as your brother. She likes God and has gone to some bible memories and prayer conferences. She says that she likes going to them. not all of us is universal at the same time with her notwithstanding it truly is okay. She is a blinding personality and has a center of gold. She loves all of us with the middle of an adolescent.

Yes. There is no shortage of work here on Earth and as you may know, never a dull moment. Once you start to wake up you realize there is barely time to sleep ( lol )

One can't just believe and be saved as so many think. There are 6 steps to salvation.
To Hear
Matthew 11:15
He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
Believe
John 3:36
He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
Repent
Luke 13:5
I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”
Confess
Matthew 10:32
[ Confess Christ Before Men ] “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.
Be Baptized (immersed not sprinkled)
Mark 16:16
He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
Even Jesus was immersed as was the Eunuch ~ they could just easily have poured or sprinkled water on them but they didn't because immersion was necessary (Jesus example to us) so the Eunuch was taken under the water completely.
Jesus baptism ~ Matt 3:16 When He had been baptized,
~~Jesus came up immediately from the water;~~
and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
Eunuch's baptism ~ Acts 8
38 So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him. 39 Now when they
~~came up out of the water,~~
the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing.
Be Faithful Unto Death (we can fall from grace so there is no once saved, always saved)
Revelation 2:10
Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
1 Corinthians 4:2
Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.
Once saved always saved rebuttal
Galatians 5:4
You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law;
~~you have fallen from grace.~~
Revelation 3:5
(Note) ~~He who overcomes~~
shall be clothed in white garments,
(Note)~~and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life;~~
but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

Well, you have managed to combine the tenents of several different sects of Christianity and cross reference them. The "all we need" is modern Evangelical. The blood and body thing is traditional Catholic teaching. The various quotes from the New Testament have been used by various sects to justify what they think is important, including good works, unquestioning faith, sanctified behavior.
