I'm a homeschooler, so I don't have a highschool diploma. But I want to join the marines, I'm told you have to have a diploma to join. I'm smart, I just don't have the paper to prove it. Do I stand a chance in hell of getting in without the diploma?

Talk to a recruiter and find out what their policy is for a homeschooler. Generally for the Marine Corps these days a diploma is required but there have been exceptions made and I can see being home schooled as being one of them. I also know that if you have a GED and a semester or two of college classes, that will make you eligable to join as well. But as I said before... talk to the recruiter. If you really want in then they'll help you make it happen. Good luck to you.

The best thing to do is take the GED. This is the route many homeschoolers take, so they can have an official paper for things like enlisting and some colleges.

depends on if your home school curricula is accepted by the militray( not all are). the recruiter has the current list of all programs that are deemed acceptable.

in the event that it isn't, one semester at a local community college (5 classes) will get you the equivalent. But they must be 100 level and higher classes.

You won't have a problem picking up your GED. Just tell the recruiter that you're a homeschooler. They won't have a issue with it.
