my freind like pulled these strings and it was all like messed up

Keep in strings do not have to follow the shortest path through the tube, for example, a string that goes into the top left of the tube does not have to come out the bottom left, it could come out the bottom right. Strings could also be connected to each other inside the tube.
Also, perhaps other things could be in the tube, like springs or rubber bands. Consider that a string entering at top left was connected inside the tube to a spring connected to the right end of the tube, and also connected to the spring is a string exiting bottom left, when the top left string is pulled, the spring is stretched to the left, creating slack allowing the bottom left string to also extend from the tube.

Note that different think tubes will be different on the inside, so what I said here is just an example, you are supposed to think about the one you saw, yourself.

I have heard of a Think Tank (and worked for one) but I have never heard of a Think Tube. And who is that "he" that did "it?"

Give some clues to get some answers.
