I have a very slight overbite which nobody notices but me. It's starting to bug me so I'd like to correct it; however, I don't want to close the gap between my 2 front teeth.

The gap is hereditary.

Slight overbite that means about 2-3mm overbite?

Orthodontic concerns should be well addressed to an Orthodontist. Ask a referral from your dentist. You come in for a consultation and the orthodontist will evaluate your case. (procedure, cost and time involve)

Braces can resolve the problem as well as bite plane (an appliance)

GOOD LUCK :)

it may mean your wisdom teeth are trying to come in...once they're out, your gap will come back

YOU NEED TO HAVE A DENTIST EVALUATE WHY THERE IS THIS GAP.
DO YOU HAVE A PRODRUDING UPPER LABIAL FRENUM GIVING YOU THIS SPACE?
IF SO,THIS MUST BE REMOVED, BUT BRACES ARE BEST THEN TO CLOSE THE SPACE.
