No one can tell within 5 minutes of meeting someone whether they have a future together or not. Anyone who says different is either lying or not centered in reality. It takes time to truly know someone. And for any sort of future, the relationship needs work. There is no magical love at first sight then *POOF* Happily Ever After.

Some people do feel that way about how they felt when they met their mate. But that only counts in their relationship. I'm not a big fan of generalizing so I have to disagree with that claim. Some people hate each other in the beginning and end up being married for fifty years. Some people knew each other as kids and then separated, met up again and got reacquainted and eventually they fell in love and got married. If a girl said that to you, she probably means she likes you only as a friend or someone to date in the time being. She probably has this image of the man she is going to marry and you don't fit it. In a way, it's her loss because you can't choose who you will fall in love with. If her vision of love is she'll know in the first five minutes, just take it as a sign that if it isn't you that she falls for, that some other woman will come along and she'll be a much better match for you.

I read a book that says that called "Contact" but it was within the first 4 minutes... and it's not just women, it's everyone... the book says that within the first four minutes someone can tell if they like the other person whether as a friend or as a lover or just like them as a person in general... I don't remember the book saying anything about seeing a future or not, but it was awhile ago that I read the book...

Women are better "hunters" for mates than men are - period. This has been scientifically proven. Why? because women pick men for a whole set of different reasons than men pick women for. In general, women look for who is a better provider. Women who look for the 'hot' guy are still in thier ego phase whether its a self-esteem issue(s) or they are working being popular by picking only cute guys (some never outgrow that), they eventually mature (most) and pick the truck not the sports car anymore. While men almost always pick the sports car. The succesful men wise up to this and will pass on the barbie doll without hesitation. Dont pick the ugliest duck in the room but the barbie doll rarely has much to offer.

no because there was no connection that way between my parents...so..I'd have to say that when she laid down the ultimatum for him as to what his intentions were and did so with NOT a happy face but a 100% business professional approach...like she was on a sales call...that any romance or lovey dovey feeling was gone..and while she had no real idea as far as what to expect..she really could not say after 5 minutes whether she would date him again.

i believe anyone can determine what kind of person someone is in 5 minutes, but whether there is a future - you never know until you give it a go. thats what i believe.
hm, as for the girl that says she likes you but sees no furute, she is just not that into you. i know its harsh, but she is being rude by not being honest. although she is trying to let you down slowly, trying not to hurt your feelings..

esp. in big cities like Cali or NYC
where they get hit on 25 times each day
they will know if you are interesting or not in the first 5 mins
