If not for wars in the name of false teachings, and hypocrisy, would not more people want to learn about God?

probably. it is frustrating people think they need religion - Jesus plainly said that “no one comes to the Father except through Me.” so i recommend people pray before they try to learn about God through church - although churches may be used at times to teach us and they can be ok...

I think that's part of it. Atheism is a legitimate point of view, though, and in many cases, atheists just looked at the facts and decided they thought it was more likely there was no God. I think it's tragic that religion has still become political on both sides, with atheists constantly touting the Crusades and theists constantly touting irrelevant statistics about charity donation volumes. Neither of these really have much to do with whether or not God exists.

Let's start with a typical news broadcast, "In an apparent Act of God, the aircraft erroneously proceded through the fog
and crashed 7 miles outside............. /// The Reverend Spender explained the additions to his mansion as funds lifted from his ministry................/// Seven adult parishioners came forward to complain of molestation...............//// the tsunami that took 200,000 lives; described by the Muslim survivors as an act of God, they learned the earthquake struck just............The hospital that treats children with maladies of various cancers........... Again, government officials are found to have shaded the bill to favor billionaire-farmers........ and, finally the silly robe-enriched rites, the kneeling, the knelling, the cock-suredness of preachers in an essentially occult art, that actually requires intelligent examination that inspires belief

I think that is a big part of it.
But there are some who just don't believe in a higher being. Some others, need to see God to believe. Still others (the arrogant) think that they are to good to bow down to any one, even God. It just seems hard for some people to have faith, without certain evidence, and that is evidence that you can't really get unless you believe. Catch 22

It's an unfortunate fact of humanity that people tend to judge a whole group by its worst members, and yes, I think it's pretty obvious that corruption inside the church has driven away more than a few people.

It is the corruption of the heart that is the biggest reason. When we do not accept the Holy Spirit of God to guide you and revel to us that Jesus is God.

NWT is the work of amateurs. None of the translators had formal training in biblical languages.

An answer designed to please most Americans.

The USA is the greatest force for good this world has ever known.

We have the mightiest, best equipped and trained military in history, and yet we use it only as a last resort and in protection of our freedom, only sparingly , and with restraint against those who would take it away.

Our military will crush all who oppose us, and in charity and benevolence, the US will systematically re-build their shattered countries and the survivors will be great full to the USA for generations to come.

LuvUall, Ba-bye.

The evil side of religion is complemented by the total absence of evidence for God.
