Yeah, it's the longest war in history, between Britain and France. If you've ever heard of "Joan of Arc," this would be that war. Basically, England started clobbering the French for about 112 years give or take, and then Joan of Arc took over the French Army and played a HUGE role in turning the tide to the point that, to the world's surprise, THE FRENCH WON! King Henry V retreated from the country shortly afterwards.

I think the key problem of this war was the struggle for the control of France. English King, technically the subordinate of the French king since the Norman era, claimed the sucessivity at the French throne, together with some territory struggles.

The William Conquereor in the 11th century was the subordinate of the French king. when he captured the Britain, he formed a souvereign kingdom, but still he was the relative of the french ruling house. some time after this, his sucessors claimed the teritories of Normandy and the French throne. result was the 100 year war.

Yes, lots of us do, and it lasted 116 years even though it was called the 100 years war.
