It was a big crock of nothing. Lots of smoke and no substance. Most people didn't even notice.

It involved latin immigrants mostly, and they were "on strike" for a day, to let Americans know what their role in the economy and every day life is. It was stronger in the states that have more latin population, but immigrants in other states took part too. That meant from less cab drivers to school teachers, nurses, doctors, etc. It wasn't just the nanny or the maid. It's really sad to see answers like the ones you were given before, filled with racism and intolerance.
