People have the urge to eat in the middle of the day because after a while their breakfast begins to die down so they need energy. So their body gets hungry and begins to crave everything, so they go and eat just about anything that is in the refrigerator.

It's not really the middle of the day -- everyone gets the urge to eat several times a day spaced between several hours. Every four or five hours, you get hungry; it's as simple as that. If you ate at, say, eleven o'clock in the morning, you might not be hungry until the early afternoon. It just depends.
